All members of the Board being present: G.K. Grantham, Chairman; B.P. Ingram, J.G. Layton, J.A. Hockaday, Jas. A. Buchanan, and I.T. Spears, Atty. present with Board. Tfinutes of last meeting read and approved. It is ordered that the County take no steps to collect taxes due by J.D. Berne. for 1920 -21 -22 and 23, in Stewart's Creek Township, for 60 days, pending investigation by Mr. Barnes' attorney' to know if taxes have been paid. It is ordered that $10.00 be allowed for emergency fund for Cinda Wood (P.Wood in addition to pauper fund. It is ordered that report from Road Commissioners of Anderson Creek Township be accepted and filed. It is ordered that report from E.F. Young be accepted and filed, with check attached for $687.41. $20.00 paid by Madeline Thomas to J.W. McArtan which was not credited. This correction made and the $20.00 charged to J.W. P,tcArtan It is ordered that report from H.A. Turlington be accepted and filed, Total amount collected $383,839.27. Commission on same $340.94/ It is ordered that the County Commissioners pay the transportation- of'four Confederate Soldiers to the reunion at Dallas Texas: Mr. N.A. Stewart, Mr. McAllister, Mr. Stephens, and Mr. McRae. 0168.00. County Order made to W.H. McAllister, Ad jt. It is ordered that renewal policies for courthouse and jail with Dunn Insurance &.Realty Co. be accepted and filed. Amount of premium $167.25. It is ordered that County Auditor be allowed to collect 1923 taxes-from Mrs. N.S. Atkins to the amount of $ >65.33. It is ordered that Miss Camp make investigation as to Alice Denton, pauper. It is ordered that report from Clerk of Oourt be accepted and filed. All bills attached -to be ?3aid. (C.S.C. for Jurors $36. 9.80). It is ordered by the Board of Co. Commissioners that Duke School Dist. #1 be advanced out of the General Funds the sum of $3000.00 to be repaid by said school district Jan. 1st, 1926, out of any taxes now due to said school district, or that may hereafter be levied and collected on behalf of said school district. It is ordered that report from S.B. Caviness, Supt. of Camp, be accepted and ■ filed, and all bills attached be paid. It is ordered that report from J.P. Parker be accepted all bills attached be paid. It is ordered that the bridge built by J.W. Turnage be meeting- investigation to barnacle by County Attorney. it is ordered that Eyer & Co. be paid $756.26 to maturing note. (57 William St. N.Y.). It is ordered that Chairman and Clerk be authorized to execute notes not in excess of $40,000.00, as per resolution as follows: And whereas it appears to the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County North Carolina, and it is found as a fact that in order to meet the necessary expenses of running and maintaining the public schools of Harnett County for s months as required by the Constitution of North Carolina, and to pay for and k rovide necessary equipment for said schools it is necessary that the Board of duoation of Harnett County be provided with the sum of,Forty - Thousand $40,000.00) Dollars: Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of arnett County, North Carolina, that a note or notes of the Board of Com missioners of Harnett County, be executed' by its chairman and clerk for the total sum of Forty Thousand ($40,000.00) Dollars and maturing Nov. 15, 1925, and bearing interest from date at 4.60 per cent per annum, Both interest and 2t principal payable to bearer at Seaboard National Bank in the city of N.Y. and that said note or notes be sold by the Auditor of Harnett County, and the proceeds thereof turned into the general school fund of said county. Be it further resolved: That the full faith and credit of Harnett County, North Carolina, be pledged to the punctual payment of the principal and interest of said note or notes at maturity. I, Mamie Sexton, Clerk of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution is a true and exact copy of a resolution passed by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County at its regular meeting on flonday May 4th, 1925. The above equipment to be installed complete for the sum of 01,390.00. It is ordered that the following Petition be approved, and the election called: NORTH CAROLINA, HARNETT COUNTY. TO TEE HONORABLE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF HARN TT COUNTY: We, the undersigned qualified voters of Barbecue Consolidated School District, who have resided within said School District for a period of twelve months or more, do hereby petition your Honorable Board for an election as contemplated in Part VII, Article 17, Section 219, of the Public School Law of North Carolina, Codification of 1923, in order to ascertain whether there shall be levied in said district a local annual tax of 20 cents in addition to the present 30 cents on the One Hundred Dollar valu- ation of all property real and personal, the total Special Tax rate not, to exceed 50 cents on the 0100.00 valuation, to supplement the funds for the six months public school term for said district - -- more specifically for increasing the length of the term to eight months and to make it a Standard Grade Grammar School and an Accredited High School; the boundares of said district to be as follows: Beginning at Lee county line, between Fallans and C.H. Smith's farrp, running in a Southerly direction to Little Cypress Creek; down little Cypress creek to Gum Swamp; down Gum Swamp Creek to Barbecue Creek; down Barbecue Creek to Air Castle School District line; thence in a northerly direction with Air Castle School District line to Mt. Pisgah School District line; thence with :.:t. Pisgah School District line in a Northerly direction to Lee County line; thence with Lee County line to the beginning.
