County Commissioners met in regular Session. All Board being present. (G.K. Grantham, Chairman, B.P. Ingram, J.G. Layton, J.A. Hockaday, Jas. A. Buchanan.) Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Moved and seconded that B.N. McDonald be released of $28.08 for 1923 taxes in Anderson Creek Township. Moved and seconded that Mrs. Ella Barefoot be released of $43.91 taxes in Averasboro Township. Moved and seconded that J.R. Turlington be released of taxes in Duke town- ship in the amount of $27.31, and charge same to Sheriff as same was paid to Sheriff in May, 1924. Moved and seconded that Mrs. Mary Fleming be released of $3.20 taxes in Neill's Creek Township for year 1921. ' Move and seconded that J. Milton McKay be released of $20.00 taxes and charge to Sheriff as it was paid to him on July 7th, 1924. Moved and seconded that W.C. Bethune be released of tax on two dogs in Stewart's Creek Township. Moved and seconded that C.A. Todd be released of 1924 taxes on account of blindness. (House and lot in Lillington) Moved and seconded that Mrs. Mary Deal be released of tax on $1940.00 property in Grove Tdwnship for 1924 taxes. Moved and seconded that Mrs. C.J. Williams be released of $100.00 on 1922 taxes in Black River Township, and that same amount be charged to J.W. McArtan, Ex- Sheriff. Moved and seconded that D.M. Phillips be released of $6,20 for 1923 taxes. Moved and seconded that J.L. Long be released of taxes on value of $1500.00 property in Neill's Creek Township. Moved and seconded that release be made to J.M. Riley for property in Averasboro No.1 in the amount of $8.25 taxes on $1650.00 property in Averas- boro Township. Moved and seconded that report of E.F. Young for taxes collected for years be accepted and filed. Moved and after Gus Moved and on same. seconded that H.E. Trulove be allowed $30,00 for trip to Pittsburg Williams, prisoner. seconded that I.B. Tart be allowed to list property and pay taxes Salves in Averasboro Township. Moved and seconded that G.T. Johnson be refunded $2.00 for poll tax paid in Harnett County and who lived in Wake County May lst, 1924. Moved and seconded that O.J. Messer be refunded taxes on $700.00 property listed in Stewart's Creek Township; there being $700.00 error. Moved and seconded that J.G. Gilbert be refunded $2.00 for poll tax paid in Buckhorn Township, and lives in Hector's Creek Township. Moved and seconded that Frank Searcy be refunded $2.00 poll tax as he has been permanently released. Moved and seconded that M.S. Holder be rebated error in taxes on 32 acres of land in Upper Little River Township valued at $784.00. Moved and seconded that C.M. Faircloth be allowed $400.00, balance due for .services tseR6feree. Moved and seconded that Miss Camp be allowed $18.00, expense of carrying four Hodges children to Thomasville, and two Moore children to Barium Springs Moved and seconded that old Board serve for another to Moved and seconded that premium of $25,00 be paid for bond of Sheriff, and that renewal policies on Courthouse and Jail be returned to J.A, Taylor & Son for cancellation. Moved and seconded that Herbert Griffin act as Ferryman for Northington's Ferry in place of Arthur Cummings, at $27.00. Moved and seconded that salary of Health Officer be reduced from 565.00 to $50.00 per month. Moved and seconded that County Attorney be paid a salary of $400,00 per year. Moved and seconded that County Auditor be paid $200,00 per month. It was ordered that the County Auditor and County Attorney be appointed purchasing agent for County;-and all purchases must be made through them, and that requisitions must be made to them as to the things needed. RESOLUTIONS, Deeds ordered executed by Board of Commissioners. WHEREAS, Rufus N. Smith failed to pay his taxes for the years 1921, 1922 and 1923, and his lands were sold for taxes for these years and bid in by the County. And Whereas, deed has been made by the Sheriff of the County to the Commissioners for said land; And Whereas,' the said Rufus H. Smith has offered to redeem same by paying his taxes in full, together with the costs incurred: Now, Therefore, it is ordered that the Chairman' of the Board of Commissioners be authorized and directed to make a deed back to the said Rufus H, Smith for the said lands upon his payment of all taxes °and costs together with the cost of making new deed for said lands, Approved by G.K. Grantham, Chairman, 1 -5 -25, WHEREAS, J.T. Ellington failed to pay his taxes for the year 1922 and his lands were sold for same and bid in by the County,. And Whereas, deed has been made by the Sheriff of the County to the Commissioners for said land; And Whereas, the said J.T. Ellington has redeemed same by paying his taxes in full, together with the costs: Now, Therefore, it is ordered that the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners be authorized and directed to make deed back to J.T. Ellington for said lands. WHEREAS, Cornelia J. Williams failed to pay her taxes for the years 1921, 1922, 1923, and her lands were sold for taxes for these years, and bid in by the County; And Whereas,; deed has been made by the Sheriff of the County to the County Commissioners for said lands; And Whereas, the said Cornelia J, Williams has offered to redeem the same by paying her taxes in full, together with the costs incurred. NOW, THEREFORE, it is ordered that the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners be authorized and directed to make a deed back to the said Cornelia J, Williams for said lands upon her payment of all taxes and costs, together with the cost of making new deed for said lands.` Reports filed 1 -5 -25 Oaths Filed.
