County met in a call meeting on -

Upon motion of Commissioner Geo.T.Noel, seconded by Commissioner L.R.Byrd,
the Board members unanimously voted that the appropriation for the County
Agent's Department for the year 1938 -1938 carry with it the nomination of
Mr.C.R.Ammons as County agent for the said period, and that Dean Schaub be
requested to concur in said nomination and that his title be that of County Agent
without any qualification of that title..
It is ordered that the County Attorney advertise for bids to (1) furnish
index books and index sheets, and (2) supply all labor and supplies for
re- indexing the public records in the office of the Register of Deedd of the
County, the bids to be opened at 2 :00 P.M.June 25, 1938.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, N.C.':
Section 1. That Henry C.Strickland, be and he is authorized to execute
and file an application on behalf of the County of Harnett, in the State of
North Carolina, to the United States of America for a grant to aid in
financing the construction of a general hospital for treatment of human ailments.
Section 2. That J,S.McLean, Harnett County Auditor, be hereby authorized
and directed to furnish such information as the United States of America
through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works Stay reasonably
request in connection with the application which is herein authorized to be
filed, and that Eric G.Flannagan, as architect, shall furnish supporting
architectural data.
The Board recessed to meet against Saturday, June 25, 1938 at 2:00 P.M.
to complete its business.

The Board of Commissioners met in special session Saturday, June 25,1938,
at 2 :00 P.M. Those present were Chairman J.B.Ennis, and Commissioners
Geo.T.Noel, J.S.Barker, L.R.Byrd and Angus A.Cameron.
Bids for furnishing index books and pages for indexing the records in
Register of Deeds office and for doing the re- indexing and furnishing
supplies and equipment incident to the work, were received and opened as
follows:

Re- indexing approximately 164 books, furnishing expert supervision,
cards, pencils, typewriters, etc. @ 34/ per line, not to exceed 5,000.00.
The Board deferred letting any contract until after the expiration of the
fiscal year. The system of indexing selected by the majority of the legal
Bar was the Cott system.
