The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met Friday November 12, 1937
at 2 :00 P.M. upon the expiration of the recess of November 1, 1937. Those
present were Chairman J.B.Ennis,. and Commissioners L.R..Byrd,_Geo.T.Noel and
J.S.Barker, and County Attorney H.C.Strickland... Commissioner Angus A.Cameron
being absent on account of illness.
The Board determined that notice to bidders on Harnett County Jail additions,
extensions and improvements had. been published as required by law. Theredpon
proposals were received as follows, relative to jail improvement:
FOR BUILDING CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION OF CONSTRUCTION AS SPECIFIED:
Byrd Bros. & Shaw being only and low bidder for general contract at $5600.00,
the same was awarded to Byrd Bros. & Shaw, Inc., subject to contract and
performan 87 'eing executed.
FOR CELL AND JAIL EQUIP3aENT AS. SPECIFIED:
Manley Jail Works, Dalton, Ga. being low bidder on jail equipment as specified
at $6150.00 including - alternate "B" cage, same was awarded to that concern
subject to contract and performance bond _being given.
FOR PLUMBING AND HEATING AS SPECIFIED:
H.C.Lee, Dunn, N.C.
Carolina Public Service Co., Angier, N.C.
$1984.00
1700.00
Low bidder being Carolina Public Service Co. for plumbing and heating
contract was awarded Carolina Public Service Co. at $1700.00 subject to contract
and performance bond being executed.
The County Attorney was ordered to draft Contract relative to jail, .
addition and improvements.
The following resolution was adopted:
NORTH CAROLINA;
HARNETT COUNTY:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, in session
Friday, November 12, 1937, that the County of Harnett .do. sell to Kirchofer &
Arnold, Inc. Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.) o£Harnett.County Sinking Fund
Bonds, more specifically designated as follows:

And that the price at which said bonds shall be sold is 102 plus accrued
interest, said sale having been approved by the Local Government Commission
of North Carolina.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proceeds derived from the sale of the said
bonds shall be and become a part of the Bond or Sinking Fund of the'county of
Harnett, the aggregate of the principal of the said bonds being 1/3 of the
$30,000. set up in the Budget of the County for the fiscal year 1937 -1938.
The foregoing Resolution was introduced by Commissioner Noel, and upon his
motion, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, the_foregoing Resolution was unanimously
adopted. Those voting for its adoption were Commissioners Noel, Byrd, Barker '
and Ennis. Against: None.
There being no further-business the Board recessed to convene First Monday
in December, 1937.
