Also H.C.Strickland, County Attorney. It is ordered that Roscoe Byrd Raynor, Erwin, N.C. be relieved Ott poll tax for the year 1937; and that he be granted free peddlers license for the year 1937, all on account of his being definitely disabled veteran of the late World War. It was ordered that H.G.Matthews, Erwin, N.C., be relieved of poll tax for the year 1937, because of his disability. It was unanimously ordered that the Tax Collector advertise, and sell for all uncollected 1936 taxes, on September. 6, 1937, as per the list uncollected and submitted_by him to the Board. The County Attorney was directed to settle the pending suit of Neill McK.Salmon and J.Robert Young against the County by payment to J.Robert Young of 450.00, and payment to Neill McK.Salmon of 450.00, plus actual costa of 412.90, and the County Accountant is hereby ordered to pay the same. The Board received communication relating to a road from Sanford via Duncan to Highway No. 15 -A at Rawls, and a petition relative to treatment of about 3/4 mile in Angier across Highway No. 210. These were filed and ordered held until conference with the District Engineer.. Commissioner Barker and the County Attorney will view and discuss these projects with the Engineer. A petition for improvement of the fair ground road near Dunn was received and referred to be held awaiting the visit of the District Engineer. Mr. Tit will confer with the Engineer. The petition filed and forwarded to State Highway Commisalon Nov. 4, 1936, for improvement of road beginning on Fort Bragg Highway near Harmony Church and running with fire line for about six miles, and crossing the Layton road between Bunnlevel and Flat Branch and crossing the McLamb Road to the Joseph Williams road, was considered and a map showing same was filed to be brought to the attention of the Highway District Engineer. It appearing to the Board that the order regarding the attorney's fee in Tax Foreclosure suits at the regular meeting June 7, 1937, does not Comply with the ruling of Attorney General, itsis ordered that resolution passed On that date be rescinded. It is ordered further that no foreclosure suits be instituted until proper fee has been ordered by the Board. The Board unanimously approved the appointment of J.B.GOurlay as Assistant County Agent. The following road petitions were presented to the Board and ordered filed: (1) To re- condition that portion of the public road running westwardly from the 91d Fair Ground about 1* miles in Averasboro Township. (2) To approve and construct and surface a portion of State Highway No. 55 leading from the conjunction of Broad Street and State Highway No. 55, in the southern part of Angier, to the conjunction of said Street and Highway in the northern part of said town. It is ordered that the report of North Carolina Forest Service presented by F.J.Turlington, County Fire Warden, be approved and placed on file. 490' It is ordered that School Budget be amended in the amount of 65,500.00 for Lafayette School Building; the above amount to be secured from the sale of Tax Anticipation Notes until money cane be secured from State Building Fund. It is ordered that C.S.Adams be approved as cotton weigher of Angier for a period of two years ending August 1, 1939. It is ordered that the Purchasing Agent purchase two (2) milch cows for use at the County Home and to build shelters on to the barn at County home.
