The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met at 9:00 A.M. at their office
in the Courthouse, Monday, July 12, 1937, at the expiration of the recess, to
continue the transaction of business of July 8th. and to dispose of otter matters.
Those present were Chairman J.B.Ennis, and Commissioners Geo.T.Noel, J.S.Barker,
A.A.Cameron and Lonnie R.Byrd. Also present was County Attorney, H.C.Strickland.
The following applications for beer license were granted:
(1) John & Etta WiF,gins, Coats Cafe, Coats, N.C.
(2) Charlie Walters, Walter's Service Station, Highway No. 55 thru Angier, N.C.
(3) J.A.Langdon, Pine Ridge Service Station, 5 miles North of Coats, N.C.
(4) J.L.Holland, Holland's Filling Station, Angier, N.C.
It is ordered that loo increase be allowed the jailer on his salary to apply
from April 1, 1937 as was the case of like allowance to the Sheriff.
The County Accountant further discussed the Budget Estimate for the fiscal
year July 1, 1937 - June 30, 1938 and it is ordered filed and published in the
press. A statement of the financial conditions of the County as of June 30, 1937
was received from the Auditor and ordered published as required by law.
It appearing to the Board that the disbursements for the purpose of Special
Emergency Relief have been made from the General County Fund rather than from the
Special Fund for that purpose.
It is ordered that the sum of Three Thousand ($3,000.00) Dollars be trans-
ferred from Special Emergency Relief Fund:to the General County Fund to the end
that the General County Fund bay be reimbursed to the extent of $3,000.00. A
copy of this order will be furnished the County Auditor.
There being no further business the meeting recessed to re- convene at 9:00 A.M
July 26, 1937.

The Board of Commissioners met in special session July 26, 1937, with
Chairman J.B.Ennis, Commissioners Geo.T.Noel, J.S.Barker, A.A.Cameron and Lonnie
R.Byrd present. Also County Attorney, H.C.Strickland, was present.
It is ordered that beer license be granted R.Z.Beasley at Beasley Service
Station, Turlington's Cross Roads, Grove Township.
It is ordered that upon payment of the tax receipts and certificates
of sale on 40 acres listed to 0.M.Pollar or 1936 and prior years in Black
River Township be released.
It is ordered that J.S.McLean, Auditor, be instructed to correct error in
listing of E.W.Bmith Estate, Duke Township, and issue release for the years
1934, 1935 and 1936.
It is ordered that Board of Education be allowed space in the basement of
the Agricultural Building for the storing of books.
The County Accountant presented $30,000.00 of county bonds which were paid
July 1, 1937. By unanimous vote of the Board, pursuant to Section 7 of Chapter
557, Public Laws of 1907, the Chairman was ordered to burn the bonds in the
presence of the Board. The bonds were burned as directed.
It is ordered that Nola Graham, colored,prisoner, assigned to work at the
County Home, be hired out to Mss. Willie Norden, for the remainder of her term
for the sum of $25.00.
The Board recessed to re- convene at the call of the Chairman.
