The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County re- convened May 14, 1937 following
the expiration of the recess taken May 3, 1937 with the following being present:
Chairman J.B.Ennis, and Commissioners J.S.Barker, Geo.T.Noel, A.A.Cameron and
Lonnie R.Byrd. County Attorney H.C.Strickland and the Clerk to the Board were
also present.
Upon motion of Commissioner Geo.T.Noel, seconded by Commissioner J.S.Barker,
the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County:
1. That pursuant to , and under the authority of, the provisions of the
Revenue Act enacted by the General Assembly of North Carolina at its 1937 Session,
it being House Bill No. 35, as amended by House Bill No. 838, there shall be
imposed as a Harnett County license tax for the privilege of carrying on the
business, exercising the privilege, or doing the act named, the following annual
license taxes for the tax year June 1, 1937, to and including May 31, 1938, as
set opposite the several respective business privileges below listed, to -wit:

That there is hereby levied and assessed annual license taxes for the tax
year beginning June 1, 1937, on all businesses and /or articles and /or privileges
as defined in Section 130 of the 1937 Revenue Act, as amended, and as therein
taxed, a County license tax at the rate of one -half (1 /2) of that levied and
assessed by the State of North Carolina under said Act; and that there is hereby
levied and assessed a license tax of 100% of the rate of tax assessed and levied
by the °tate_of North Carolina under Section 1302 of the said Act, on all
businesses, and/or articles, and /or privileges as therein defined and described.
2. BE IT RTBER RESOLVED, that with respect to the businesses taxed by the
County of Harnett for the privilege of conducting such, the taxes hereby imposed
shall pertain to the several businesses and callings defined by the said Revenue
Act of 1937, as amended, whether specifically mentioned in this Resolution or
referred to in said Act, and that reference to the respective sections of the said
Act shall be construed to include all businesses or callings defined and described
in the particular section to which reference is made, and reference hereintto a
particular business shall not mean that other businesses in the particular section
referred to are excluded, but each and every of said businesses shall be included.
3. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that pursuant to, and under authority of, Section
512, of the Revenue Act of 1937, as amended, said Section being a part of
"Schedule F" of said Act, there is hereby levied and assessed a tax for the tax
year beginning June 1, 1937, and ending May 31, 1938, as follows:

(a) For license to sell at retail within the County the beverages known as
beer, larger beer, ale, porter, and other beverages enumerated in sub-
section "(a)" of Section 501 of the said 1937 Revenue Act, as amended,
a license fee or tax of 4'25.00; and (b) for license to sell fortified
and unfortified wines at retail within said County, the same being defined
in subsections "(b)" and "(c)" of said "Schedule F" of said Act, a-license
fee or tax of 4`25.00.
Voting for the adoption of the resolution: Commissioners Geo.T.Noel, John S.Barker,
Lonnie R.Byrd, and Angus A.Cameron. Voting against its adoption: None.
The Board ordered that C.B.Barefoot be refunded $12.50 taxes paid in advance
for 1937, it appearing that under the 1937 Revenue Act no:tax may be levied on
Dry Cleaners and Pressing establishments or such businesses outside the County,
by Harnett County.
It is ordered that report of Tax Collector be accepted and filed.
It is ordered that report of Register of Deeds be accepted and filed.

RESOLUTION.:
NORTH CAROLINA -- Harnett County:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners. of Harnett County, pursuant to
the Rules, Regulations and Amendments prescribed by Senate Bill NO. 58, 1937
Session of the Assembly Of North Carolina, it being an act relating to
Old Age Assistance and Dependent Children, and in accordance with said t,
amendmente, Rules and Regulations. promulgated by the State Board_ of. Charities and
rublio Welfare, that B.C.CAMERON be, and he is hereby appointed. and_ designated as
a member of the County Welfare Board of Harnett County, North Carolina.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution.ot appointment,
properly attested, be transmitted to the state Board of Charities and Public
Welfare.
Voting for the foregoing resolution: Commissioners J.B.EtiniI, Sohn_S.Barker,
Geo.T.Noei, L.R.Byrd, and Angus A.Cameron.
