HomeMy WebLinkAbout11021936423 November 2, 1936 The Board of County Commissioners met in regular.session on Monday, November 2, 1936, with the following members present: J.B.Ennis; E.L.Cooke; G.T.Noel; and A.A.Cameron. Also County Attorney, I.R.Williams. it is ordered that a committee composed of A,A.Cameron, Harvey O'Quinn and J.S.McLean be appointed to investigate the valuation of N.A.Patterson Estate in Upper Little River Township. It is ordered that J.E.Patterson, of Upper Little River Township, be relieved of poll tax for 1936 on account of loss of eye. It is ordered that E.G.Thomas, of Barbecue Township, be released of $2.00 dog tax on one female dog. It is ordered that J.A.Whittington of Grove Township, be granted free peddlers' license for 1936 on account of physical oondition. It is ordered that W.A.3ohnson of Buckhorn Twp. be relieved of poll tax for 1935 and 1936. It is ordered that J:T.01ive be released from the County Home, this done upon personal request from Mr. Olive. NORTH' CAROLINA: HARNETT COUNTY: BE'IT RESOLVED that the County of Harnett convey all right, title and interest whioh'it has in that tract of land belonging to James •.Cameron in Barbecue Twp. containing 50 acres, for the sum of One Hundred Dollars and that the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County be and he is hereby empowered to execute a quit -claim deed for said property, which deed shall release all claims the County has against the said lands by reason of tax judgment and taxes for the year 1935, and prior years. The Board of County Commissioners let in a call session on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1936 with J.B.Ennis, J.S.Barker, A.A.Cameron, E.L.Cooke and Geo.T.Noel present. It is ordered that a committee composed of Geo.T.Noel, E.L.Cooke and J.S.MoLean, to investigate the valuation of property in Averasboro Township owned by Mrs.Elma Godwin. It is ordered that a valuation of $1200.00 be placed on the property of Mrs. N.C.McIver in Upper Little River Township. It is ordered that the property of P.H.Lynch, Jr. in the town of Dunn, be valued at $2500.00. It is ordered that the vacant lot 25' x 90' adjoining the Dixie Hotel Bldg. listed in the name of J.C.Byrd, be segregated and valued at $1,000.00. V The County Auditor is hereby ordered and directed to pay, as soon as funds are available, all bills of Registrars, Poll Holders and Clerks as approved by the Chairman of the Board of Elections, for General Election held Nov. 3, 1936. It is ordered that the following road petitions be approved and forwarded to the State Highway and Public Works Commission at Raleigh, N.C.: 1- Road in Grove Township leading from Stella Ennis' home to J.W.Sorell; 2- Begins 31 miles southeast of Dunn on Highway No. 60 and runs about 800 yards to Josiah Pope road, in Averasboro Township; 3 -Road covers about 2 miles from J.MOD.Cameron's farm to Cyrese (5seek'.in Johnsonville Township; 4- Begins on Fort Bragg Hgy. near Harmony Church and runs with fire line for about 6 miles; 5- Begins 5 miles West of A *nievel in Stewarts Creek Township, and enters Highway No. 210 a distance of 2.8 miles; 6- To establish road beginning at Ed Striokland to enter Highway No.55 a distance of 1} miles; 7- Begins at Benson- Angier Highway near H.P.Young's home runs North 1 mile and joins Johnston- Harnett County Highway; 8 -In Hectors Creek Township begins at Joe Fuquay old road runs to Dunoan,a distance of 400 yards; 9 -Bens at Patrick Godwin's home to Highway No. 60 runs in a Southern direction to disposal plant of the Town of Dunn, a distance of about 3 miles. -It is now ordered that the Board adjourn subject to call of the Chairman.
