HomeMy WebLinkAbout09041935309 Sept. 4th. 1935. The Board of County Commissioners met in adjourned session with the following members present: J.H. Annie, Ohairman, E.L' Cooke, J.S. Berner, Geo. T. Noel and A.A. Cameron. I.R• Williams, County Attorney was also present. Be it ordered that Mr. Charlie Doss or Mr. I.R. Williams be and he is hereby appointed Representative of the Board of Commissioners to fill in question No. 5 asked in the letter of Br. H.G. Baity, dated Sept. 3rd. 1935, but not to fill the answer to said question No. 5 at lower than 33 1/3 per cent. And it is further ordered that Mr. Chas. Boss or I.R' Williams be and he is hereby appointed Representive of Harnett County, North Carolina, to deal with P.W.A. authorities in Washington with the view of obtaining an early approval of the `pending applications and to agree to such changes in the same as he deems advisable. Be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that W.D.Harrington appointed Tax Collector of Harnett County for the year 1915, be and he is hereby relieved from the duty of collecting any taxes prior to the levy for the year 1935 made by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County. SOLUTION: It was ordered by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that the bond of W.D. Harrington, who was duly appointed Tax Collector of Harnett County for the 1935 levy at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held on the 5th. day of August, 1935, be fixed' at $25,000.00, said bond to be approved at the next regular meeting of said Board. The following resolutio* offered by Commissioner J.S. Barker, seconded by Commis- sioner G.T. Noel, wan{ unanimously adopted: "Resolved that the salary of the Tax Collector of Barnett county for the 1935 levy be placed at $431.25 per month; that in addition to said monthly salary the Tax Collector shall receive all legal levy and garnishee fees now allowed said effioe; and that the above compensation shall be the full compensation, including all expenses for said office, except such sums as may be allowed for land sales, the amount to be determined by said Board of commissioners. W.D. Harrington, Tax Collector for 1935 levy, having informed the Board of Com- missioners that he had appointed D.G. Campbell, Assistant Tax Collector, it was ordered by the Board of Commissioners that the bond of'D.G. Campbell, Assistant Tax Collector, be fixe& at the sum of $5000.00, said bond to be approved at the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners." Harrington, Tax '+ollector, be fixed at th curs of $1640000.00. • It was further ordered by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett county that the First Citizens Bank and Trust company of Dunn, N.C. deposit a bond in the sum of x000.00 for the purpose of securing all funds deposited in the name of Harnett othvu than those made in the name of the 1935 Tax Distribution Account by n, Taxr.collector, of Harnett county. it mein ordered by the Board of Commissioners that W.D. Herrington, Tax Collector, deposit daily all anounts collected on 1935 taxes in the Vilest Citizens Bank and Trust Company,Dutnn, N.C. the official depository of said county, and that the said official depository receipt said W.D. Harrington, Tax Collector, daily for such deposits, and that upon compliance on the part of W.D. Harrington, Tax Collector, that he and his surety on his bond shall be relieved of further responsiblity for such amounts so deposited. ,her ordered by the Board of Cot^:issioners that the First Citizens Bank Oempany of Dunn, N.C' be and ate same is hereby designated as the official of the Bounty of Harnett, for the collection of funds is the hands of S.S. McLean, and the Assistant Auditor, H.S. Freeman, and that the bond ins the deposits made in the name of the 1935 Tax Distribution Account by J.S. i6oiaasb, Auditor, and the Assistant Auditor, H.S' Freemen, be fixed at the sum of ,000.00. RESOWflON: Whereas the Local Committee of School No. 2 contracted for truck hire in order for the WPA to build without furthereosts an up to date athietie field for the Dunn High School; - And whereas the said Committee expected to pay for said truck hire of the taxes levied prior to 1933 as a supplement for said school districts; and whereas under the existing ruling of the attorney general such funds can not be used for that purpose; and whereas certain -"per school districts expended before said ruling of tits attorney general the goester part of such tees belonging to the said district.; And whereas the projeot for the said athletic field in Dunn will coat approxi- $7500.00; and is now one - third: finished. 310 Now, therefore, be it ordered upon the recommendation of the Board of Education of Harnett County that the Budget for the Sehool year 1935 -36 be and the same is hereby amended as follows: That there be and the same is hereby appropriated from Maintenance of Plant and Current expense fund the sum of $400.00 for the use of the Donal Committee of the School District No. 2 for the purpose of paying truck hire for said proiject. The Board of County Commissioners met in call session with the following member, present: J.B. Ennis, Chairman, J.S. Barker, E.L. Cooke, A.A. Cameron and Geo. T.Noel I.R. Williams, County Attorney was also present. RESOLUTION: Resolved that the County of Harnett, under authority contained in Chapter 172, Public Laws of 1935, guarantee the payment of the purchase price of tractor and terraeier outfit to be purchased by Harnett Soil Conversation Association not to exceed $4500.00 and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners be and he is hereby authorixed and emppwered to execute in the name of Harnett County a proper guarantee of the payment of the said tractor and terracing m.quipment, fully pledging the full faith and credit of said County of Harnett to the prompt payment of the said purchase price not to exceed the sum of $4500.00. And be it further resolved that the members of the Board of Commissioners be and they are hereby appointed a Committee to serve with the Directors of the Harnett County Soil Conservation Association in purf"hasing the said equipment. RESOLUTION: Re ved that County join in deed of Board of Education to State of N,C. conveyiig the Block in Dunn as shown on Plan of Town of Dunn as Block "AB ". The Board of County Gommissioaers met in call session with the following members present: J.B. Ennis, Chairman, E.L. Cooke, J.S• Barker, Geo. T. Noel and A.A. Cameron. I.R. Williams, County Attorney, was also present. After conferring with the Harnett County Soil Erosion Committee in regard to the purchase of tractor and terraeer it was decided to accept the bid of E.E. Craven Company in the sum of $4165.00 for one Allis- Chalmers tractor and one J.D. Adams terraeer and that the Chairman of this Board be authorized to sign necessary contract for purchase of same.
