Suly 2nd.1934.
The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following
members present; J.B. Innis, hsirman, E.L.Cooke, J.S. Barker, J.D. Byrt and
H.M. O'Quinn. I.R. Williams, unty Attorney was also present.
It is ordered that Moses Koplin of Munn, N.C. be allowed to peddle without
License for the year 1934 -1935 in Harnett County on account of physical due -
ability..
It is ordered that a Committee composed of E.L. Cooke, I.R• Williams and G.L.
Cennady be appointed to act with the Town Board of Dunn in investigating the
valuation of the lots of Mrs. L.A. Tart in Dunn, N.C.
It is ordered that the valuation of that lot owned by Dr. H.C' Turlington in Dunn
known as the Newberry lot be reduced to 42000.00 for the year 1932 and to 41500.00
for the years 1933 and 1934.
It is ordered that report od L.M. Chaffin, C.S.C. be accepted and filed and that
checks in the sum of 465.60 and 4128.25 be turned over to the County Auditor for
distribution.
It is ordered that the report of Dr. A.W. Feeds be accepted and filed.
It is ordered that the 42000.00 policy with Fire Association of Philadelphia
presented by Jas. A. Taylor and Sons be accepted and filed.
It is ordered that a Committee composed of I.R. Williams, E.L. Cooke end Geo.L.
Cannaday by appointed to act with the Town Board of Dunn in investigating the
valuation of lot of Eldridge Jernigan in Dunn, N.C.
It is Ordered that valuation of 245 acres of land of ,.A. Morrison in Johnsonville
Township be reduced from 41725.00 to 41445.00
It is ordered that a Committee composed of E.L.Cooke, I.R. Williams and Geo. L.
Cannaday by appointed to set -w4th -the investigate the valuation of 43 acres of
land in Ave. Twp. belonging to L.M. Johnson; 11.88 acres of lend in Ave. Twp.
belonging to Jesse B. Lee; 14i acres of land in Ave. belonging to G.A. Jackson
and property of Jai Lees.

It is ordered that W.A. Page /be admitted to the County Home upon oondition that
they transfer to the County two 4300.00 notes held by them against C.C. Cummings
and wife.
It is ordered that 4500.00 be plaoed in the 1934 -35 budget for the purpose of fire
protection to be paid to the Department of Conservation. and Development.
It is ordered that the former order passed by this Board at this meeting be
altered and the name of J.B. Ennis be inserted in lieu of Geo. L. Cannaday in
the investigation of the valuation of real estate in Member. Township.
It is ordered that 41000.00 be placed in the 1934 -45 budget for the purpose of
*splaying a Home Moonomics teacher and for the purohase of equipment at Boone
Trail. High School.
It is ordered that report of Geo. L. Uannady, Tax Qollestor, be aootped and
filed.
RESOLUTION:
Mrs. Thelma Brice having appeared before the Board and asked for reduction in
valuation of that traot of land purchased by her from D.F. Harris and wife by
deed reoorded in Book 230 at page 313, which lands are in Barbecue Township, on
the grounds that the timber on the said lands have been out off since 1933 list-
ing, and the Auditor having recommended that a valuation of 41700.00 be placed
upon said lands, it is therefore ordered by the Board that a valuation of 41700.00
be placed upon said lands for year 1934.
E=SOLIIUION:
Whereas, Mr.Peroy L. Rockefeller and his wife, Mrs. Isabel S. Boekefeiler have
leased to the Hope Prevention, Inc., a traot of land in Anderson's Creak Township
which tract contains 14.42 shats= acres and is fully described in that deed
recorded in the offioe of the Register of Deeds of Harnett County in Book 250 at
page 433;
And whereas the said tract of land, together with buildings, which include the
hospital or prevention and the dairy are being operated by by Mrs. Isabel 3. Rook -
efeller for the charitable purpose of preventing further progress of tuberculosis
among the children of Harnett County;
It is therefore ordered that a valuation of 43500.00 by placed upon the said
lands and buildings above described, and that the said amount, in valuation, to -wit
43500.00 be taken from the valuation of the lands of Mrs. Isabel 3. Rockefeller for

for the year 1934 and for each year that said preventorium is operated for eharitabl
purposes. It being the intention of this Board to exempt the said 14.42 acres.
from taxation as long as the said prevention is operation for charitable purposes.
RESOLUTION:
Whereas the 83 acres of land of Mrs. Sallie June Shelton in Barbecue Township
Harnett County was listed for taxes fn 1929 and 1930 and 1931 and 1933 both in
Barbecue Township and also in Upper Little Hiver Township for years 1929 to 1933
inclusive:
Now therefore be it Resolved that the - double listing --of said 83 acres in Upper
Little River Township be cancelled and that the payment of 1929 taxes on said land
in Upper Little Diver Township be taken and considered as'payment of taxes 1929 in
Barbecue Township on said 83 acres; and Auditor is hereby directed to mark the ±atm
listing of said 83 acres in upper Little River Township for 1929 to 1933, inclusive
as cancelled on account of double listing for - - -s -aid years, the land being duly
listed in Barbecue Township where land is situated. The Bounty :attorney is hereby
authorized and directed to take a non suit- -at- -cost of i ounty in action of Harnett
County vs Sallie June Shelton, et als, No 828 for 1929''tages and the non suit hereto
fore taken by County Attorney be, and -the same is hereby ratified and confirmed.

RESOLUTION:
Hattie Gainey having appeared before the Board of commissioners to ascertain
the outcome of her appeal from 1931 assessment and it having been found as a fact
that said appeal has never been acted upon and the following members of the Town
of Dunn Board of commissioners, J.H. Ballance and G.T. Noel and N.B. Lee, Tax
Gol eotor of unn, having recommended that $1500.00 be placed as a valuation on said
property for the years 1931 -32 -33 and 1934, which recommendation as concurred in by
the Gommittde appointed by the Board of 0ommissioners, it is ordered that the val-
uation of $1500.00 be placed upon said lot purchased and owned by Hattie L. Gainey
in &verasboro Township, Harnett County for the years 1931, 1932., 1933 and 11934 and
the. Auditor make the necessary corrections.
It is now ordered that the Board do now adjounn subject to a call of the Chaim
