The Board'of County Commissioners met in adjourned session with the following
members present: J.B.Ennis, Chairman; H.M.O'Quinn, E.L.Cooke, J.S.Barker and
J.D.Byrd. Also, I.R.williams, County Attorney.
It is ordered that the Clerk to the Board notify the following insurance
agents to appear before the Board first Monday in March: E.B.Culbreth;
Jas. A.Taylor &-Sons; J.C.Thomson; J.N.Fuquay; Tim McCoy; H.T.Spears; and
O.A.Zaokery.
It is ordered that a committee composed of H,M.O!Quinn, J.S.Barker and
J.B.Ennis be authorized to investigate the site for a Recreation Center and make
all plans for the purchaser of said .site,with full authority to act and make
report immediately.
RESOLUTION:
J.W.Draughon and Marvin Wade appeared before the Board of Commissioners and
requested that the Board grant to the Four County Fair Association the licenses
collected during 1933 on the following grounds:.
(1) Four County Fair Association is a live corporation;
(2) That County Commissioners should encourage Agricultural Fair in the County;
(3) That Fair was suspended during past three years on account of depression;
(4) That arrangementsmare being made for resumption of Agricultural Fair to
be held on same grounds during 1934;
(5) That if the amount of said license taxes are granted to the Four Countyv
Fair Association that the entire amount will be applied on indebtedness incurred
in operation of prior fairs.
MOTION: By E.L.Cooke, Commissioner, seconded by J.S.Barker, Commissioner, that
the said license taxes collected on operation of fair grounds during 1933 be
refunded to said Four County Fair Association for the purposes aforesaid, and that
all prior orders relating to thismstion be and the same rescinded.
Voting for: Commissioners Cooke, OtQuinn and Barker.
Voting against: Commissioner Byrd.
It is now ordered that the Board do now stand adjour ed Sine Die.
