The Board of Commissioners met in regular session with the following members
present: J.B2 Ennis, Chairman, J.S. Barker, J.D. Byrd, H.M. O'Quinn and E.L.Cooke.
I.R.W111iams, County Attorney was also present.
It is ordered that the appointment of C.S. Adams as ootton weigher of the Town
of Angier by the Commissioners of said Town be approved.
It is ordered that report of Dr. A.W. Peede, eounty Physician, be accepted and
approved.
It is ordered that report of L.M. Chaffin, C.S.C. be accepted and filed and that
check attaohed in the sum of 417.60 be delivered to the County Auditor.
It is ordered that D.G. Darrooh of Anderson Creek Twp. be relieved of the payment
of poll tax for the years 1932 and 1933 on account of being a disabled World War
veteran.
It is ordered that H.M. O'Quinn be designated as member of the Board to attend the
oonvention of County Commissioners at Writesville Beach and that the expenses of
his trip be paid.
It is ordered that report of Geo. L. Cannaday, Tax Collector be accepted and
filed.
It is ordered that the report of Geo. L. Cannaday; Collector of Privilege Tax,
be accepted and filed.
RESOLUTION:
Whereas the Board of Commissioners are of the opinion that it will be to the best
i *terest of citizens of Harnett County that the sales of land for non - payment of
of taxes for 1932 be postponed until first Monday in Ootober, 1932,
Now, therefore be it srdetstCthat Geo. L. Cannaday, Tax lollector postpone said
gala until First Monday in October, 1933.
RESOLUTION:
It is ordered that to enable the Board of Education to oarry out the order of Judge
J. Paul Frizzelle relating to the fees of $250.00 for attorneys of the petitioners
in the Mandamus concerning Coats Sohool, that the budget of Coats $hhoal District
be amended to the extent of $250.00 for fees for attorneys representing the
petitioners, said fees of 4250.00 to be paid only of Special Tax Fund of said
District.
Upon motion of Mr. Cooke and seconded by Mr. Barker the above resolution was aiopted
by the following vote: Voting for :Cooke,Barker and Byrd,
Voting againstL O'Quinn
It is ordered that the valuation of 88* acres of Mrs. C.J. Williams in Black liver
Township be reduced from $4740.00 to 43500.00 on account of loss of house by fire.
It is ordered that the valuation of lot of Mra. Pearl J. Blalock be reduced from
4990.00 to 4165.00 on account of loss of house by fire. Lot in Angier,N.C.
It is ordered that Mra, C.E.Stewart be relieved of the payment of taxes in a valuatio
of $3850.00 on account of notes listed for t9e year 1931.
It is ordered that J.B.Ennis, Miss Davis and J.S. McLean be appointed a Committee
to investigate and make disposition of saes of minor children of convicts serving
time on the roads.
RESOLUTION:
Resolved that the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County recommend that a State
Highway be constructed leading from Dunn in Harnett County to Newton -Grove in
Sampson County; Be it further resolved that a certified copy[ of this Resolution
be sent to the Chairman of State Highway Commission.
RESOLVED That Board of eounty Commissioners of Harnett County recommend that a
Highway be constructed from Rawls to Duncan road at Oak Grove School in Hectors
Creek Township.
RESOLUTION: WHEREAS it appears upon report of J.S. MoLean,Auditor, that eighty five
(85) acres of land belonging to J.C.Woolard and wife, Annie Woolard,located fnur
and one -half miles from the Town of Goats in Averasboro Township, have not been
listed for taxes for the years 1929, 1930, 1931 and 1932; and
WHEREAS said mortgage deed upon default has been foreclosed in the ease
entitled "The Federal Land Bank of Columbia vs J.C.Woolard and wife,Annie Woolard
Willie Pope, Ezra Parker, Trustee, Alonzo Parrish, Orie B. Pope, J.R. Parrish,Trua-
tee, J.C.Webber,trading as Farmers Supply Company, et al•, and by judgment dated the
17th. day of October, 1932, has been sold and purchased by The Federal Land Bank of
Columbia; and
WHEREAS the said commissioner is desirous of payAng the taxes which are
due on said land; and

WHEREAS, there are no taxes due on said lands for the years prior to 1929;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the eighty five (85) acres of land above
referred to in Averasboro Townshop be and the same are hereby listed for taxes
for the years 1929, 1930, 1931 and 1932 at a valuation of Twelve Hundred Fifty
($1250.00) Dollars and the Auditor is hereby authorized and directed, upon the
payment of the amount of taxes due for each of the years 1929, 1930 and 1931, to issue
a receipt for said taxes for each max of said years; and the Auditor and Tax Col-
lector are hereby authorized and directed, upon the payment of the taxes due far
the year 1932 to issue the tax receipt; and
BE IT r'URTHER RESOLVED that upon the payment of the taxes fir the years 1929,
1930 and 1931, as above provided, the said The Federal land Bank of Columbia is
released of any and all taxes on said property for the years 1929, 1930 and 1931.
RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners is of the opinion that there is due
the County of Harnett on uncollected taxes an amount with which to pay the princi-
pal of all notes and bonds coming due during the fiscal year of 1933 -34;
And Whereas, the Board of Commissioners is of the opinion that it is
unjust and in- equitable for the Board of Commissioners to levy a rate high enough
to pay the interest and principal of all bonds and notes coming due during said
fiscal year thereby penalizing those tax- payers who pay their taxes regularly;
NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the Board of Commissioners levy only
enough taxes to pay the interest on the notes and bonds coming due during the
fiscal year 1933 -34.
It is ordered that the valuation of furniture of J.B. Rouse, Averasboro Township
for the year 1932 be reduced to $200.00.
It is ordered that no allowance
pauper aid.
