HomeMy WebLinkAbout07281933161 July 28th. 1933. The Board of County Commissioners met in call session with the following members present: J.B. Ennis, Chairman, J.D. Byrd, H.M. O'Quinn, J.S. Barker and E.L. Cooke. It is ordered that petitiod for road in U.L.River Township leading from Ephesus Church to Flat Branch Church be approved and mailed to the State Highway Com- mission. It is ordered that M.H. O'Quinn of.Neills Creek Township be granted pedler's license without charge due to the fact that he is a disabled World War Veteran. IT IS ordered that 3.G. Davis of Upper Little River Township be granted pedler's license in Harnett County without charge on account of being a disabled World War Veteran. IT IS ordered that the valuation of the house and lot of W.L. Aldridge in Averasboro Township be reduced from $3500.00 to $)2750.00. RESOLUTION: At a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County, held on th 28th. day of July, 1933, the following members were present, the same being a quorum of said Board: J B Ennis, J.S. Barker; E.L.Cooke, J.D. Byrd, H.M. O'Quinn. The following resolution was offered by Mr. Cooke and seconded by MIr. O'Quinn "Resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County; "1) That for properly maintaining a six months' school term in District No. 3 Benhaven, Barbecue Township, Benhaven School. W. race, Harnett County as required by Article II, section 3, of the Constitution of the State of North Carolina, it is necessary that certain improvements beta made therein of the following character Erect new building- ten class rooms, heating and plumbing, (2) That in order to provide said improvements it is necessary that the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15000.00) be obtained by borrowing the same, to be used by the County Board of Education of Harnett County for said purpose. (3) That the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County dons hereby approve of and authorize the application for, and procurement of, a loan for said purpose from the State Literary Fund of the State of North Carolina, established under Chapter Public Laws 19 , and said Board does hereby authorize and direct that all necessary steps be taken to procuresaid loan under the terms of said statutes and the rules and regulations gf the State Board of Education governing the making of loans from said fund, and the Chairman and Secretary of this Board are hereby authorized, empowered and directed for and on behalf of t.is Board to join with the County Board Of Education of Harnett County in making the necessary application therefor, and to take such action under this resolution and under said statutesmrules and regulations as may be necessary for said purpose. The resolution wasrnduly adopted by the following vote. Those voting in the affirmative were: J.B.Ennis, E.L.Cooke,H.M.O'Quinn, J.S. Barker and J.D. Byrd Those voting in the negative were: None WHEREUPOB the Chairman announced that said resolution was duly and properly adopted. RESOLUTION: At a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of County, held on the 28th. day of July, 1933, the following members were present,the same being a quorum of said ;oard: LIessers J.B. Ennis, J.S. Barker, E.L.Cooke, J.D. Byrd and H.M. O'Quinn. The following resolution was offered by M. O'Quinn and seconded by Mr. Barker; "Resolved tka by the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County: (1) That for properly maintaining a six months school term in District No. 6 Grove Township, Coats School, W. race, Harnett County, as required by Article I% section 3 of the Constitution of the State of North Caroline it is necessary that certain improvements be made therein of the following character: 8 class rooms, brick construction, low pressure steam heat, sewerage dosposal plant. (2) That in order to provide said improvements it is necessary that the sum of Seventeen Thousand Five Hundred Fifty ($17550.00) be obtained by borrowing the same to be used by the County Board of Education of &irnett County for said purpose (3) That the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County does herebyapprove of and authorize the application for, and procurement of, a loan for said purpose from the State Literary Fund, of the State of North Carolina established under Chapte Public Laws 19 , and said Board does hereby authorize and direct that all necese spry steps be taken to procure said loan under the terms of said statutes and the reules and regulations= of the State Board of Education governing the making of loan from said fund, and the Chairman and Secretary of t_is Board are hereby authorized empowered and directed for and on behalf of this Board to join with the County Board of Education of Harnett County in making the necessary application therefor, and to take such action under this resolution and under said statutes, rules and regulations as may be necessary for said purpose" 162 The resolution was duly adopted by the following vote Those voting in the affirmative were: J .E.Ennis,E.L.Cooke,H.M.OtQuinn, J.S.Barker and J.D. RESOLUTION: At a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County, held on the 28th. day of July, 1933, the following members were present; the same being a quorum of said, Board: J.B. The following resolution was offered by Mr. Barker and seconded by Mr. Cooke: "Resolved by the Board of bounty Commissioners of Harnett County: (1) That for properlu maintaining a six months school term in District No. 8, Lillington Townshtp, Shawtown School, Col. Race, Harnett County, as required by Article IX, Section 3 of -the Constitution of the State of N rth Carolina it is nec- essary that certain improvements be made-therein of the,foltowing character: Two additional class rooms- brick veneer (2) That in order to provide said improvements it is necessary that the sum of Two Thousand Five Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($2500.00) be obtained by borrowing the same, to be used by the County Board of Education of Harnett County for said purpose. (3) That the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County-does hereby approve of and authorize the application for,-and procurement of, a loan for said purpose from the State Literary Fund of the State of North Carolina, established under Chapter Public Laws 19 and said Board does hereby authorize and direct that all necessary steps be taken to procure said loan under the terms of said statutes and rules and regulations of the State Board of Education gthverning the making of loans from said fund, and the Chairman and Secretary of this Board are hereby authorized, empowered and directed for and on behalf of this Board to join with the County Board of Education of Harnett County in making the necessary therefor, and to take such action under this resolution and under said statutes, rules and regulations as may be necessary for said purpose" The Resolution was duly adopted by the following vote: Those voting in the affirmative were: J.B.Ennis E.L.Oooke, H.M. OtQuinn,J.S. Barker and J.D. Byrd. Those voting in the negative were: None WHEREUPON THE CHAIRMAN annonnced that said resolution was duly and properly adopted. RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, a delegation of the citizens of Harnett County have appeared before the Highway Commission of North Carolina in the interest of surfacing the highway from Lillington through Mahler to the Johnston County line; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County are of the opinion that the surfacing of the highway from Lillington to Angier, in Harnett,County, is first and of paramount impaatance to the County with respect to highways which said opinion has heretofore been shared by the Board of Commissioners of'Harnett County; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY: 1. That the said Board of County Commissioners join in the recommendation and request of the citizens of Harnett County o the effecst\that the road from Lillington to Angier be re- surfaced and treated with some asphalt or other road treatment which will insure a hard surfaced road; and, 2. That the treating or surfacing of said road be the 'first project in Harnett County undertaken under the new and proposed road program; and, 3. That the said project and road be made a part of the Federal Aid system. 4. That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Honorable E.B.Jeffewss, Chairman, State Highway Commission, Raleigh, N.C. This the 28th. day of July, A.D. 1933.
