The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following
members prtsent: J.B.Ennis, Chairman, J.S. Barker ,E.L•Cooke,J.D•Byrd,H.M,OrQuinn
..Also present, I.R.Williams, County Attorney.
It is ordered that Miss McQueen be requested to investigate the condition
of the baby now being kept by Mr. Jack Matthews regarding the balance due Mr.
Matthews for the keep of this child, etc.
The petition of the Coats School School for a 415,000.00 loan for the
pose of erecting additional school rooms was disapproved by the Board by the follow

It is ordered that petition for loan for Benhaven School be not approved.
It is ordered that W.M. Keen be refuted 425.00 Beer Tax as he hasreliin-
quished his license and did not open for business.
It is ordered that Van W. Womack, col. U.L.R: Twp. be refunded 42.30 poll
tax for the year 1932 on account of error in listing:
It is ordered that the County of .Harnett charge 425.00 for license to
peddle medicines, cosmetics, insecticide, toilet goods and that this order be
retroactive as of June 30th. 1932.
It is ordered that the resignation of Miss McQueen as Welafer Officer, be
accepted and that the thanks of the Board be extended her for her services during
the past.
It is ordered that bids be received for laundry work at County Home and
Jail for e period of twelve months on the 1st, Monday in June, 1933 for the
period beginning June 12th. 1933 and ending June 12th. 1934.
It is ordered that C.S. Lovin g be a ppointed Vice Recorder of the Recorders
Court for the ensuing term on account of the resignation of H.L.Steele who was
recently appointed.
It is ordered that A.J. Collins be granted license to sell beer for one yea is ordered that report of J.L.MCLean, Auditor in regard to wreck caused
by County truck be approved and that the following bills incurred be
Paid: fir.
A.W.Peede, 410.55: Northam Motor Company, 4109.99; The tixie Hotel, 433.00.
RESOLUTION: Be it resolved that the lands of Mrs. M.M. McKay Estate in
Lillington Township described in Book Q, page 4$9, teegistry of Harnett County, be
reduced on the tax books from 800 acres of valuation. 418,870.00 to 539.52 acres
of valuation of 413,170.00 on account of error in listing and in accordance with
order of Commissioners of July 11, 1932 in Book 6, be it resolved that said lands of�MrsgeM6MM. McKayeEstateobeirelease,I
and discharged of all County taxes for the years 1927, 192$, 1929, 1930 and 1931
and prior years upon payment to the Auditor of the sum oP N4358,9:8 for 1927,and
sum of 4356.77 for 1928 and sum of 4368.83 for 1929 and the sum of 4356.39 for 1930
and sum of 4213.92 for 1931; and upon payment of said amounts the Auditor is
authorized to executea and deliver proper receipts in full settlement of.said taxes
on said lands and County Attorney is authorized to dismiss all tax suits against
said lands at cost of County. All pursuant to laws of 1928.

Township, Harnett County, containing 150 acres be released -`and discharged of all
Harnett Oounty taxes for the years 1931, 1930, 1929, 1928 -, 1927 and all
upon payment to County Auditor of the sum of 453.28 Per 1927 and sum of $57 ©60yfors
1928 and sum of 472.72 for 1929 and sum of 490.15 for 1931 and County .Auditor is
hereby authorized to issue proper receipts in full,paymeht and settlement cif said
taxes on said lands; and County Attorney is hereby authorized to dismiss all Oounty
tax suits against said lands at the costs of the Qounty, All pursuant to Laws of
1933.

Resolved: Whereas, A.W.Slaughter and wife, Bessie Slaughter have arranged

Register of Deeds for Harnett County in Book 246, page 120, which deed of trust 2a
conveys, as seourety to the said loan, sixty one acres of land in Black River Town-
ship; and with another
Whereas, the said sixty one acres was listed for taxes along
tract adjoining thereto containing about 29 acres, making a total of 904 acres list-
ed for taxes by the said A.W.Slaughter. and
Whereas, the said two tracts sere listed together and valued at 45900.00;
Whereas the said A.W.Slaughter is anxious to pay the taxes on the 61 acre
tract securing said 10an; and
Whereas, this Board finds as a fact that the taxable asaesaait value of
the said 61 acres is 44000.00;
Now therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett
County:
1. That the Auditor of Harnett County be and he is hereby directed to figure
the taxes against the said 61 acre tract upon a basis of a taxable assessed valua-
tion of 44000.00. and tp certify the amount of taxes so figured against the said 61
acres to the Tax'Collector of Harnett County; and be, and he is hereby authorized

and directed to accept the said amount of taxes certified by the Auditor against

RESOLUTION:
e it resoved by the Board of (commissioners of Harnett County that the
resolution adopted by this Board on September 5th. 1932 relative to the tax sale -
of the property of T.L. Sewell in Duke Township, Harnett County, be rescinded
and that the Auditor be and is hereby empowered and instructed to settle all taxes
due by the said T.L.Sewell under the new tax laws passed by the General Assembly
of 1933; and that he accept the sum of ($170.00) One Hundred and Seventy and no /10i
Dollars in full settlement of such taxes, and t.hke such action as may be necessary
to free the lands of said T.L.Seweli from any lien which the County of Harnett
may have acquired by virtue of the sale of the lands of said T.L. Sewell as will
appear of record; that the County take s nonsuit in the action instituted in this
tax suit.
