It is ordered that Billie Johnson of yuckhorn Township be released of poll tax for the year 1932. It is ordered that annual report of e..0. Anthony, County Fere Agent be accepted, approved and tilde.. It is ordered that J.S.Meic an I.R.Williams and H.Y.O'Qainn be appointed a ooaaitte to answer complaint of Never Fa11 band Company asking for a reduction of their pro- perty in Barnett Bounty before the 'hate nsard of }ssessaent. It is ordered that I.R.Williaao. J.B.Ennis and J.S. McLean be appointed a committee to investigate the A.D.Coats land known as Isaac Johnson property. RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, our Chairman is retiring from the Board and whereas the Beard realises the loss to be sustained by the County on mount of his absence; NOW THEREFORE, Is it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett Qounty that this Beard go on resort as endorsing the able leadership of our reti ing Chairman and assure hie of its eineere appreciation of kis valuable assistance in administering $he affairs of the County during these trying times. It is ordered that E.L.Cooke,H.Y.O'Quinn and J.B.Ennia be appointed a Committee to investigate price of drags for County Xamaxentanti and sake report to the Board. It is ordered that report of J.0. Chaffin showing the condition of his *trio* be accepted and ordered filed. It is ordered that report of A.W.Peede, Mounty wealth Officer be aocepted and filed. RESOLUTION: Resolved that torsos the .board of Education Of Barnett yvunty is unable to pay the "realms due Mira insurance agents for fire insurance on the school build- ings and furniture and fixtures in said school buildings, for the reason that the proceeds from fines, forfeitures, dog tax and pro rata r'-'--- part of poll tax is not sufficient to pay said premiums, and whereas no ■d valorem taxes were levied by the County Commissioners for fiat charges; And Whereas it is to the bast interest of the (panty of Barnett that said firs insuranos'an said buildings and fixtures and furniture be kept in force; It is therefore resolved that an emergency does exist and that application be dads to the local Government Commission for permission to issue notes of said County of Harnett for the purpose of assuring coney to pay the said premiums for the fiscal year 1932 -33, the amount of said nets or notes to be not greater than the amount due for Bush insurance premiums on January 1, 1933. Present ant voting for said Resolution: Halford,dhairman, Cooke, innis,0'4uinn and J.B.Williams,Jr. RESOLUTION: Resolved that the Auditor of Harnett ooanty be and he is hereby directed to nark satisfied the tax reo•ipt and certificate of sale for 1931 taxes assessed agai,ns lot in Averasboro Township, Harnett Bounty in the name of Louise Fitzgerald sa the property was sold by the County of xarnett and Town of Bunn to 8.8. Young, who has saapltsi conveyed the same to N.11. Johnson and that the County be released from the sum of said tars, which amount to $131.33 for the year 1931. 110 RISOLUTION; men RESOLVED THAT THE School aommittee-of this County he requested not to employ for the school year IS33-34 any married woman to teach in any school in this County at which school her husband is employed as teacher, principal or superin- tendent. RESOLVED further that the Board of Education be requested not to approve the contracts of any married women teacher to teach in any school in this county at which avhool her husband is employed as teacher, principal or superintendant. RESOIaED further that the School Committeemen of this Bounty be requested not to employ any married womacn to teach in any of the sehoOlsl'of this County for the year 1933,-34, if in the opinion of the school committee, the husband of such married is financially able to support such woman, and that the Board of Education of this Bounty not approve the contract of any such married woman if her husband is finandially able to support her.. Having taken the oath of office the newly elected Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County met and proceeded to perfect an organization. Those present being: E.L. Cooke,J.B.Ennis,H.M.Otquinn, J.Daniel Byrd and J.S. Barker. It is moved by Mr. OtQuinn and seconded by Mr. Cooke that J.B. Ennis be elected Chairman of the Board. A vote being taken Mr. Ennis was unanimously elected Chair- man of the Board. It was moved by Mr. Barker and seconded by Mr. Byrd that H.M. OtQuinn be elected Vice - Chairman of the Board. A vote was taken and Mr. 0/Quinn was unanimously elected Vice - Chairman. It wasordered that I.R.Williams be retained as County Attorney until January 1st. 1933. It was ordered that J.S. McLean be appointed County Auditor for a term of two years It was ordered that H.S.Freeman be appointed Assistant Auditor for a term of two years. The following applications Home& Mt. T.R. Brown, J.W. Mrs. Brown being placed in was unanimously elected to were received for the position as Supt. of the County Bain, Mr. J.W. Campbell, L.D. Ennis and J.M. Hough. nomination and duly seconded a vote was taken and she fill this position for the coming two year term. The following applications were on file for the position as Solicitor of the Re- corders Court of Harnett County: H.C. Strickland and y7 R. Hood. It was moved by Mr. Barker and seconded by Mr. OtQuinn that H.C. Strickland be appointed to fill this position. Mr. Cooke placed in nomination J.R. Hood. There being no second to this motion a vote was taken and Mr. Strickland was unanimously elected for a period of two years. It is ordered that the bond of W.E. Salmon, Sheriff, in the sum of $10,000.00 be accepted and ordered recorded in the Minute Docket. It is ordered that that the bond of Geo. L. Cannaday, Tax Collector in the sum of $25,000.00::be accepted and ordered recorded in the Minute Docket. It is ordered by the Board that the Chairman appoint Committees condition of the County Home and the County Farm, The Chairman thereupon appointed Messers H.M. 0 *Quinn and J.S. on the County Home. E.L. Cooke and J.D. Byrd were appointed as regard to the County Farm. It is ordered by the Board that J.S. McLean have the authority to adjust the claims of George McLean in Lillington Township. It is ordered that L.B. Jackson be requested to keep the County Jail in the same manner in which he'has been conducting same until he moves away. to investigate the Barker as a committe this Committee in It is ordered that T.R. Brown be authorized to sell some of the pigs owned by the County at the price of $3.00 each. This price to continue only one week. It is ordered that former order concerning laundry work for the County be rescinded and bids be received for this work on Monday, December 12th, 1932 for a period of six months. It is ordered that'Geo. R. McLean be granted a release of taxes on a valuation of $335.00 on account of erroneous listing, a survey of Mr. W.P. Byrd showing that they was an excessive acreage listed. It is ordered that petition for road in Johnsonville Township be approved and that the State High•:ay Commission be requested to take action on t is project at once. RESOLUTION: RESOLVED that the William Shaw one acre of land in Lillington Township, Harnett Bounty, described in adeed by J.A. Rogers to William Shaw, Book 161,page 37 and in deed to J.G. Layton Book 243, page 226, Registry of Harnett County, be re- leased and discharged of all Harnett County taxes for the year 1927 upon the payment of the sum of $82.32 with interest from December 5, 1932 until paid; and that upon the payment of said $82.32 that the action entitled Harnett Co. IS William Shaw, et als No. A -90 J.D. No. 22, page 90, be dismissed at the cost of the plaintiff and the sale thereunder cencalledd, and that the deed by the said J.0. West,Commissioner to Harnett County for said land be marked cancelled and satisfied and surrendered to the owner of the said land. This-Dec. 5th. 1932, Harnett County Board of Commissioners.
