The Board of County Commissionersmet in regular session with the following
members present: J.W. Halford, Chairman, H.M. 0/Quinn and E.L. Cooke.
Upon motion of Mr. 0/Quinn, seconded by Mr. Cooke the Board recessed until
July 5th. 1938, 10 o'clock, A.M.
July 5th. 1932.
The Board of County Commissioners met in adjourned session with the following
members present: J.W. Halford, Chairman, E.L. Cooke, H.M. O'Qhinn, J.H. Williams
and J B Wnnis.
It was ordered that a Committee composed of E.L. Cooke and d B Innis be appointed
to investigate the valuation of the property of P.T. Massengill in the town pf
Lunn.
It was ordered that Mrs. hate Wicker be allowed 64.00 per month as a pauper until
further orders of the Board. Check to be mailed to Gary Byrd, Bnnnlevel,N.C.
It was ordered that J.W. Halford, Chairman and J.S. McLean be appointed a Committee
to investigate the valuation of the W.R. Cranford property in Lillington Township.
It was ordered that J.W. Halford, Chairman of the Board and J.S. McLean, County
Auditor be appointed a committee to investigate valuation of A.G. Rickman house
and lot on I Street.
It was ordered that application blanks be printed for applicants for entrance to
the County Home which will show the approval of the Welfare Officer and the Board
of County Commissioners. These blanks to be properly filled out before the Supt.
can accept any inmate.
It was ordered that a Committee composed of J.W. Halford, Chairman, J.B. %nnis and
H.M. 0/Quinn be appointed to act with J.S. McLean, County Auditor to confer with
the Board of Education in regard to fixing the 1932 -33 School budget.
It was ordered that 33 acres of land belonging to G.L.Hemmingway in rverasboro
Township be listed at 620.00 per acre for the years 1928, 1929 and 1930
It was ordered that the report of the Committee investigating N.M. Johnson property
valuation in vverasboro Township recommending that no change be made in the $7500.0
valuation be accepted and approved.
It appearing to the Board of County &ommissioners that owing to the limited num-
ber of employees employed directly by the SS County that the Compensation Insur-
ance be discontinued and that all employees of the County be notified of the
action of the Board.
WHEREAS the lot in Dunn situated on Broad Street belonging to Stephens Howard 6o.
was assessed at 618,700.00:
And whereas the same valuation was placed a$ 622,000.00
NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that the valuation of said lot be reduced to
618,700.00, the amount originally appraised and that the tax abstracts show this
correction.
It was ordered that the State Board of Health be requested to wawa appoint Mrs.
Gordon Harrington as Registrar of Vital Statistics for Barbecue Township to fill
the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Enoch McLeod.
It was ordered that E.W. Hugelet be relieved of Poll Tax for the year 1932 and that
he be allowed a peddlers license without charge.
It was ordered that the report of h.M. Chaffin with checks totalling 670.20 be
aooepted and checks ordered turned over to the County Auditor.
It was ordered that the report of Mrs T.R. °rown be accepted and filed.
It was ordered that report of G.L. Cannaday, Tax Collector be accepted and filed.
It was then ordered that the Board adjourn until July llth. 1932 when they will
sit as a Board of Equalization.
