TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:
Your petitioner reppeotfully showeth to your body the following facts with
reference to his taxes and prays that you adjust same, in Lillington Township. He
is the owner of 185 acres of land.
In 1926 it was listed as 967 acres and valued at $2486.00 and the taxes were
$514.60;
In 1927 it was listed as 485 acres and valued at $8425.00 and the taxes were
$195.24;
In 1928 it was listed as 485 acres and valued at $8425.00 and the taxes were
$174.40;
In.1929 it was listed as 485 acres and valued at $8425.00 and the taxes were
$180.30;
In 1930 it was listed as 485 acres and valued at $8425.00 and the taxes were
$178.59;
In 1931 it was listed as 485 acres and valued at $9270,00 and the taxes were
153.88.
- Total.
There is about 60 acres of cleared land, about 20 acres of pastures and about
100 acres of cut over woods land, one tenant house, 4 tobacco barns, stable and one
pack house on it.
The way other land of like quality and character is valued in the same
aMghborhood #5000.00 would have been full valuation for the years up to and
including 1930 and $4500,00 for 1931. This is not asking for revaluation but it
simply asking for a refund and correction an error made by your tax assessors in
charging me with something I didn't own:
I also have 455 acres of land in Stewarts Creek Township, that I bought from
John McArtan during high prices,and boom times and paid $10,00 per acre for it, all
cutover woods, no cleared land at all valued eter since I have owned at just what
I paid for until the year 1931 and then without:nthtice of any kind it was raised
to $5010.00. I have never realized a penny from said land in any way, and it only
good to hold the earth together, I have paid the county about $1000.00 on this
tract since owning it. I only ask for fair treatment,
Respectfully submitted,
J.R.Young.

taken from and nothing added to and he prays that proper adjustment be made.
Respectfully submitted,
