It was ordered that the reports of Geo. L. Cannady, Tax Collector and Privilege Tax Collector be accepted and filed. It was ordered that the report of Miss Flora McQueen, Welfare Officer, be accepted and filed. It was ordered that report of Dr. A.W.Peede, County Health and Queyanttne::Offiee! accepted and filed. It was ordered that Miss McQueen make arrangements to procure medicine for Miss Alice Denton, not to exceed $5.00 per month. It was ordered that the and wife in Duke Township, It was ordered that the County of Harnett do not foreclose lands of T.L.Sewell until next regular meeting. Clerk of Superior Court, reports of L.M.Chaffiii /be accepted and filed. It was ordered that the Chairman, J.W.Halford, J.R.Baggett, C.J.Smith and J.S.Mohean, County Auditor, be appointed a committee to investigate the legality of J.T.West contract. It was ordered that report of H.M.O'Quinn and W.D.Harrington as to real estate of John A.Buehanan be accepted and the County Auditor be instructed to correct same. It was ordered that M.C.Blue be relieved of poll tax for the year 1931 in Upper Little River Township. It was ordered that E.V.Barefoot be exempt from poll tax for the year 1931 in Duke Township. It was ordered that the $25,00 expense neoessary for the operation of E.L.Autry be authorized and the Clerk ordered to notify the Sanatorium. It was ordered that J.F.Hodges in Grove Township be allowed a reduction of $1300.00 of 51 acres for the year 1930 on account of loss by fire and be refunded taxes on same, It was ordered that the report of County Farm Agent, J.O.Anthony, be accepted and filed. ' WHEREAS, many owners of liens on lands in Harnett County desire to pay the taxes on the lands so encumbered; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that J.S.McLean, County Auditor, be and he is hereby empowered to segregate such property , to receive taxes on such encumbered lands provided the pro rata part of the tax on personal property of the owner is paid by the lien holder; That this order shall remain in force until revoked by this Board of Commissioner It was ordered that the County of Harnett convey to A.G.Blanchard the lands described inthat deed from I.R.Williams, Com. to County of Harnett formerly owned by A.G.Blanchard said purchase price to be $753.83, provided said purchase price is paid by February 1st, 1932, It was ordered that the Auditor of Harnett County be empowered to adjust the matters set forth in the petition of H.G.McNeill and wife, Lizzie McNeill, and A.J.Mason Estate and allow such exemptions as provided by law which is Section 7880 (Sub. 169) for a period of three years provided 1928 taxes are paid at same time. WHEREAS, the Board of Education this day appeared before the Board of Commissione for advice concerning the payment of premiums due on fire insurance on school buildings and, whereas, thsre?;wtli be at Apparent deficit en dog tax, fines, and forfeitures to the extant of $3,000. if the insurance is renewed for three years and whereas, this Board is of the opinion that under the existing laws this Board is not empowered to borrow money for this purpose. NOW THEREFORE, this Board does respectfully advise the Board of Education of Harnett County as follows: That it insure each school building owned by the County for a period of one year. On Motion duly made and carried, BE IT RESOLVED, that all the W.M.Hawley Harnett County Taxes together with all interest, fees and cost on 53 acres Campbell Creek Land described in Book 230, page 91, and on 40 acres residence desoribed in Deed of Trust to W.P.Byrd, Trustee Book 225, page 285, for the years 1927, 1928 and 1929 have been duly paid and discharged and the receipts.and tax certificates duly assigns to Bank of Lillington all pursuant to resolution of Board of November 3, 1930, recorded in Book No. 5, page 503. FURTHER IT RESOLVED: That the 1930 W.M.Hawley Taxes on 40 acres desoribed in Book 225, page 285, be released and discharged upon payment of taxes on valuation 6 45 of $3297,00 with legal interest and porportionate part of cost in the sum of $67.90. FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED: That the W.M.Hawley land described in Deed of Trust Book 225, page 285, listed as 15; acres Bishop value $810.00 and residence 23 acres value $1480.00, or total valuation of 12290,00 be released and discharged of all 1931 County taxes upon payment of the taxes on $2290,00 valuation, tax in the sum of $36.41. FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED: That the County Auditor and County Tax Collector be and they are hereby directed and authorized to issue the proper receipt releasing and discharging the foregoing W.M.Hawley land of eb out 40 acres of all 1930 and 1931 County taxes upon the payment of the said sum of $67.90 for 1930 and sum of 436.51 for 1931. Jones,members of the Road Commission of Stewarts Creek Township, Harnett County, have expressed their desire to be relieved of duties connected with such offices and that the Road Commission of Stewarts Creek Township be voluntarily discontinued. It is "Shetatvre ordered that upon the filing of a proper report of the funds in the hands of the Secretary - Treasurer and a delivery of the same to J.S.McLean, County Auditor, that said Road Commission be abolished as provided under Section 10 Chapter 293, Public Leval Laws 1924.. To The State Highway Commission of North Carolina: We, the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County,»do respectfully request the State Highway Commission to cause to be erected at some point in Harnett County, South of Erwin, a safe bridge across Cape Fear River, as this Board has been adttsed that present bridge is unsafe.
