The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in a call session on Monday
May lOth,1943 at 10A M with J.B.Ennis,Chairman, L.R.Byrd, R.L.Pate,A.A.Cameron,
and Ferd D.Jackson,present. Also present were the Clerk to the Board and the
County Attorney.
It is ordered that J.M•Shaw, contractor, be given a contract to repair
two cells in the County H me for the purpose of taking care of insane and
juvenille prisoners, subjSct to the approval of the state Board of Charity
and Public Welfare.
The following Beer license were granted:
Mrs.J.G.Wreen, at Lillington Lunch Room
S.J.Watkins, at Watkins & Son
John Alton Lockerman, at John Place
Floyd 0.Glover, at River View Service Station

H "RNETT COUNTY. BEFORE THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS.
IN RE: Petition and hearing Revocation:
of Retail Beer License W.E.Bethune, ORDER
Trading as Bethune Bros.
This cause coming on to be heard and being heard before the Board of
Commissioners of Harnett County, all Commissioners being present, at the
courthouse in Lillirg ton,N.C•, on the affidavits of L.C.Allen, and others, after
due notice to the respondent W.E.Bethune, the following facts were found:
1. That W.E.Bethune, trading as Bethune Bros., and selling beim at retail
under license issued by Board of Commissioners of Harnett y, has
allowed the premises with respect to which the license was issued, to be used
disorderly and unlawfully, and has failed to carry out in good faith the
purpcs es of the law pertaining to beverage control; and after hearing the sworn
testimony of complainants and their witnesses, and the testimony of respondent
and his witnesses, and examination of counsel representing the respective parties:
It is considered ordered and adjudged that the retail beer license of W.E.
Bethune, trading as Bethune Bros., heretofore issued by the County of Harnett,
be and the same hereby is revoked and cancelled.
This 10th day of May,1943.

It is stipllated and agreed by and between counsel representing complainants
and counsel representing respondent that with regard to the particular time any
alledged occurxences of disorderly or unlawful use of the licensed premises of
respondent, no point shall be made or urged or taken advantage of by any of the
parties; it being agreed that the most recent license to sell beer was issued
on May lst,1943, with knowledge of portest, but that any lawful action by the
County. Commissioners to remedy the conditions complained_bf might be taken on
petition to revoke the license so issued.
The Board recessed to reconvene June 7,1943 at 10:G0.o'clock.
