HomeMy WebLinkAbout04051943479 The Board of Equalization and Review met at 10 o'clock 'sudsy March 29, 1943 with the following members present J.B.Ennis,Ferd D.Jackson,L.R.Byrd Angus A.Cameron and R.L.Pate and H.C.Strickland,Atty. On account of the absence of H.S. Freeman,Clerk to the Board, Mrs.B.F. Parker was appointed clerk to act until his return. One new filling station and living quarters of Mitchell McLamb in Averasboro was ordered reduced from $250. to $200. Four acres land of C.Rufus Stewart in Stewarts Creek was ordered reduced " from $125. to $100. Two lots in Johnsonville belonging to H.C.Cameron were reduced from $500 lei to $200. The lots to be valued at $50 each and the building $100. 800 acres of Babcock Lumber Co. valued at $15. reduced to $6.00 plus 20% in Anderson Creek on account of sale of timber. Mrs. Eliza J.Surles requested reduction on vacant lot in Black River . Request refused because value in line with adjoining property. The Board it ordered a reduction from 3800. to $700 in value on the building on Dunn St. in Black River belonging to Mrs.Surles. House in Neils Creek belonging to F.D. Jackson on 2 acres Collier's place be reduced from $1150. to X800. was ordered by the board upon the recommendation of the appraisers. The land to be valued at $120. The Board took a recess until Monday April 5,1943 at 2 o'clock,P.M. Ennis ,F.D.Jackson,L,R.Byrd,R.L.Pate and Angus A.Cameron also H.C.Strickland County Atty. Mr. W.B.Clive asked for a reduction on 201 Acres in Barbecue valued at $15. by the appraisers. The Board ordered this reduced from $15. to $12.50 (Listed to Mrs.W.B. Olive) Mr. C.W.Bannerman asked for a reduction on Bannerman's Service Station in Averasboro. The Board ordered this lot on South Clinton & East Cumberland reduced from $7000. to $6000. No reduction on building. Mr.W.H.Parrish asked for a reduction on 2 lots in Lillington. The Board ordered these lots reduced from $290. to $200. The Board authorized the value of 10 acres at $350 belonging to S.S.Thomas in Upper Little River remain as the apprtiseats valued it. The Board authorized the Clerk to notify Babcock Lumber Co. that values of their property would be copied same as 1942 values. The Board authorized the value of 3712 acres of land belonging to Senter, Parrish & Senter in Johnsonville remain in value as appraised. The Board authorized the penalty for late listing be removed from property belonging to J.L.Butler in Barbecue. Mr.Butler notified the former list taker instead of Mrs.Mack D.Cameron to list his property in January. The Board of Equalization and review then took a recess. Mrs.B.F.Parker Acting Clerk.
