HomeMy WebLinkAbout02011943471 Feb. 1,1943 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday Feb. 1,1943 at 10:00 A M with J .B.Ennis,L.R.Byrd,R.L.Pate,Ferd D. Jackson & Angus A.Cameron present.Also present was H.C.Strickland and the Clerk to Board. It is ordered that C.W.Pipkin, guardian be released of taxes in amount of $46.33 for the year 1932 on property in Upper Little River listed to Dr.J.H. Withers Est. on account of error in Auditor's Office. It is ordered that $40.00 be allowed C.H. Avery for patroling the School Zone in Town of Erwin. It is ordered that Earl Parker,Stewarts Creek Township be leased of poll taxes for all prior years andpprmanetxtly on account of physical disability. It is ordered Mudd Ennis,N.CReek Township be released of poll taxes for prior year and permanently on account of physical disability. It is ordered Eugene Matthews of Neills Creek Township be released of poll tax for prior years and permanently on adcount of physict3 disability. The report of Lola °squirm Delinquent Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of Howard Godwin,Clerk of Court was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. Mr.Byrd moved that the Board of Commissioners go on record as approving the Legslative program endorsed by Board of Education and hereby authorizes its County Attorney to write letters to our Representative enforming them of their approval. Be it resolved that 1 lot formerly listed to Abraham Leah in Black River Township and acquired by the County at tax foreclosure Judg A -912 be sold to G.V.Stewart (col.) for the sum of $100. cash $25. cash with the offer and $75. upon delivery of deed. The Chairman of Board is hereby authorized to execute deed and the Clerk will attest same. Be it resolved that the property in the town of Dunn acquired by County of Harnett and Town of Dunn under Judg 01980 -A -1015 be sold to Jas. McDougal d for the sum of $502.00 on the following terms $102. cash and $13.50 per month due and payable on the 25th, day of each month until the remaining unpaid balance of $400. and 6% interest is fully paid. Being that lot in the Town of Dunn,N.C. described in that deed of Robert McNeill and wife,Mattie McNeill, to Wesley McBryde and wife,Ida McBryde, dated January 21,1922 and recorded in Book 198, page 72 to which deed and the record of same reference is hereby made and being lot No. 19 as described in a certain map made by V.D.Stronach, Civil Angineer, and registered in Book 169 at page 558 and being a lot 50 by 150 feet on E. Divine Street, and is the same let conveyed to Robert McNeill by J.D.Barnes as recorded in Book 197 at page 425. The Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute deed and the Clerk to the Board will attest same. Fire Insurance policy No. 132737 with the Atlantic Firs Ins. Co. in the amount of $1,700.00 on the County Jail was apprw ed and ordered filed with the Clerk to the Board. Fire Insurance policy No. 3802 with the Piedmont Fire ins. Co. in the amount of $3,000. which covers the furniture in the County Home was approved and ordered filed with the Clerk to the Board. Fire Insurance Policy No. 1944 with the of $1600. which covers the County Jail was Fire Insurance policy No. 1951 with the of $1600. which covers the property County Piedmont approved Piedmont Jail. On motion of Ferd D.Jackson seconded by L.R.Byrd that the time for listing property for taxatitn to be extended to and including February 15,1943. 172 On motion of Ferd D.Jackson, seconded by L.R.Byrd resolution offered by Board of Education relating to nine months school term was unanimously approved. Penalty charged against A.B.Bethune_in_Anderson Creek Township was released in amount of $10.07 for the year 1941.
