The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November 2nd 199
at 10:00 o'clock with J.B.Ennis,Chairman, L.R.Pate,Angus A.Cameron, FerdJackson,
and L.R.Byrd present, Also present was the Clerk to the Board.
Beer licenses were granted to Miss Addle McGee and Mrs.R.B.Lee at Angier
Cafe,Broad Street,A_ngier,N.C.
The report of Miss Lola O'Quinn,Delinquent tax collector was approved and
ordered filed.
The report of Inez Harrington,Register of Deeds was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of Howard Godwin,Clerk of the Court was approved and ordered
filed.
It is ordered that the several county offices remain open for the transaction
of business on Saturday afternoons.
Whereas, it is the sense of a majority of the Citizens of Harnett that
the best interest of the public will be served by refusals of dealers to
sell beer and wine Saturday nights and Sundays:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the dealers in wine and beer in Harnett
County be and they hereby are requested to refrain from selling beer en wine
between the hours of 6 o'clock P.M. on Saturdays and -6- o'clock, p.ms -on-
Sa- thr -daye and 6 o'clock A.M. on Mondays. Let the Clerk to the Board send to
each dealer a copy of this reolution.
It is orddred that the valuation of one lot of hoserie mill machinery
fr,listed by Ben G.Braswell in Averasboro Township for the year 1942 be reduced
from $3300 to $500 as machinery is obsolete and worthless except for junk.
It is ordered that the valuation of the building on one lot on W. Broad
St.,Dunn,N.C. listed by George Janette, (B.J. Bell place) be reduced from
260 to $900.00 for the years 1941 &
It is ordered that H.G.Matthews,Duke Twp. be reatIvemi of Poll tax for year
1942 and on Act of physiciai disability.
It is ordered that Roscoe B.Raynor of Duke Twp. be reLtdved poll tax for
year 1942 and permanently on account of physical disability.
Whereas, Lula Buie, Wife of Zack Buie, be complied with the provision of
her contract to purchase from the County 9 acres of land as described in
judgment No. A -998 office of Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County, by
payment to County of Harnett of $223.00 and now requests deed be made to her:
Now, therefore, be it resolved that, upon receipt of said sum, the Chairman of
the Board of Commissioners execute in name of the County deed to Lula Buie to
said property, and the Clerk to the Board will attest the same.
It is ordered that four acres land in Barbecue Township bought by L.P.
//Wells from Zack McDougald be released .flf further taxation through 1942,
upon the payment of $21.59 and said four acres be valued at $50. for 1943.
IT IS ORDERED that D.G.Darroch,Anderson Creek township be releived of
roll Tax for 1942 account of Beirg a World War imeteener,, also Tax on 15 dogs
valued at $750. charged to him in error.
It is ordered that upon recommendation of H.S.F'reeman,Tax §upervisob„
the 452 acres in Eillington Twp. listed to J.W.McArtan be valued at $450.
jfer yrs. 1932 thru 1942 inclusive to put it in line with surrounding property
of like nature.
Be it resolved that property formerly listed to Tena Smith in Dunn and
acquired by County of Harnett Town of Dunn at tax foreclosure sale under
$udgment, #SD 1817 be sold to Lida Thaggard & Lessie Smith for the sum of
814. on the following terms $200. cash & $20. per month due and payable on the
8th day of each month until the remaining unpaid balance of 5614. is fully paid
with 6% interest as stated below.

Description Being that lot or parcel of land on East Cumberland Street, in the
Town of Dunn,N.C. conveyed to Tena Smith by and from H.C. Turlington, dated
February 28th,1922 and recorded in Book 197, page 474, P,blic Registry of
Harnett County, towwhich reference is here made for a description.
The Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute Deed to Lida
Thaggard & Lassie Smith mad the Clerk will attest the same.
It is ordered that the receipt for premium on Bond #1830614 in amount of
$1000. issued to Harnett County in $oh&3tf of Wayland J.Sauls be filed with
C.S.C.
