August 3,1942
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday at 10 AM August 3,
1942 with J.B.Ennis,Chairman,Angus A.Cameron, Ferd D.Jackson,L.R.Byrd, and
R.L.Pate absent. Also present was Inez Harrington,Clerk to the Board.
It is ordered that 4 3/4 acres of land listed to Jim McLean, colored, in
Neill's Creek Township for the year 1930 be released of the lien of County taxes
for 1930 upon receipt by the County of $15.00 before August 15,1942, and there-
upon a non -suit will be taken in pending action S.D. 2325, said assessed value for
said year having included a house then owned by J.G.Layton.
The monthly report of Howard Godwin,C.S.C., was presented, approved and
ordered filed.

It is ordered that the County Tax Collector conduct the annual sale of liens
for 1941 taxes due Harnett County on the first Monday in September,1942, and that
preliminary thereto he advertise the sale as provided by law.
It is ordered that amount $1240. for repairing Agricultural Building be
appropriated and that the Budget be corrected accordingly.
It is ordered that Insurance policy #88-57-341 War Damage Corp. on Court
House,Jail and Agricultural building be approved and ordered filed with Clerk
to Board.

Carolina) in the sum of Ten Thousand and No /100 Dollars (10,000.00) lawful
money of the United States of America, for the payment of which, w e&l and truly
to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators, successors
and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.
WHEREAS, the above bounden Lola 0t uinn was on the 1st day of June,1942 duly
appointed Harnett County Delinquent Tax Collector by the Board of Commissioners of
Harnett County,North Carolina, for a term beginning on the 1st day of July,1942
and ending the 30 day of June,1943.
NOW, THEREFORE, the condition of this obligation is such, that if the said
Lola O'4uinn shall well and faithfully perform all the duties of his said office,
then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
It is muthally understood and agreed between all parties hereto, that if the
Surety shall so elect, this bond may be canceled by giving thirty (30) days notice
in writing to the The County of Harnett (North Carolina) and this bond shill be
deemed canceled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining
liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond, which may have been committed
by the Principal up to the date of such cancelation,under the terms, conditions and
provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its
release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata
part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been in force.

It is ordered that H.S.Freeman be given authority to repair the roof of jail.
It is ordered that the 1942 -43- County Budget include the sum of $285. for
weatherstripping the County Home, and that said amount be and it is hereby
appropriated for that purpose.
✓ The Board ordered that 50 acres of J.H.Byrd land in Stewarts Creek valued as
gravel land at $100. per acre be reducted to the status of waste land at $3.50
per acre for the reason that the gravel has been removed. This to apply to
the year 1942.
