The Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday,July 6,1942 with
J.B.Ennis,Chm. L.R.Byrd,Ferd D.Jackson and Angus A.Cameron Commissioners, R.L.
Pate absent and H.C.Strickland,County Atty.present and also Inez Harrington,
Clerk to the Board.
It is ordered that Geo.Vann Duke Township be granted free pedlers license for
year 1942 -1943.

that Ferd D.Jackson be appointed purchasing agent in absence
It is ordered that $1003.98 be appropriated by County for State Commission
for the blind.
Be it resolved that the County take a non -suit in the case of County of
Harnett vs. G.O.Godwin and wife,Beadie F.Godwin,it being tax suit #A -506, upon
receipt of the sum of $15.00.
The Board ref sed an allowance of $40.00 per month for the colored Farm
Agent.
The Board ordered that Land Sale advertisement be deferred until 1st Monday
in August.
The Auditor was authorized to transfer 410000.00 from the 1942 prepg meet
taxes to the General Fund and $10000. to the school fund for the payment of
paying current bills and for debt service.
It Is ordered that Mrs.Ruby Currin in C.S.C. Office be raised $5. per
month beginning July 1st.
Upon motion of L.R.Byrd seconded by A.A.Cameron,it was ordered that an
appropriation of $4500. for year 1942 -1943 be made for Civilian Defense and for
the expenses and salary of a co- ordinator of same.
It is ordered that the County offices close each Saturday at noon during the
months of July and August.
The Board granted beer license to James Gideion Johnson Angier,N.C. #2, at
Gidts Cash Store.
The Board granted beer license to Mrs.Mildred Stevenson Maehester,N.C.,at
Dixie Inn.
The Board refused to grant beer license to Raymond Alton west,Lillington,N.C.
#1 at '?Vests Place 15A Lillington #1.
The Board granted beer license to Mrs.Blanche Lucile Chakales,Dunn,N.C. 301
E. Bay St. at Little Food Shop.
The monthly report of Miss Lola O'Quinn,delinquent tax collector, was
presented, approved and ordered filed.
The monthly report of Inez Harrington,Register of Deeds, was presented, approved
and ordered filed.
The monthly report of W.D.Harrington,Tax Collector, was presented, approved
and ordered filed.
The monthlyreport of Howard Godwin,C.S.C. was presented, approved and ordered
filed.
The Board having found as fact that Geo.L.Cannady and Arthur F.Pope,Receivers
under order made in the case of Harnett County vs. Geo.L.Cannady and others whidi
is now in Judgment No.24257, disbursed the funds in their hands in accordance
with the report filed by them on September 21,1936 with Judge E.H.Cramner,which
report was approved on October 19,1936, by Judge F.A.Daniels, it is ordered that
the taxes assessed by the County of Harnett on that sold by said Receivers under
the orders of the Court, to Alfred Blaylock be and the same is hereby released,
and the Auditor of Harnett County is directed ordered and empowered to mark said
receipt for the year 1936 and the balance for the year 1935 cancelled and
delivered to Alfred Blaylock, the said purchaser, who purchased the same under
the belief that all taxes due on the said lot were to be paid out of the r.urchase
price he paid for said lot.

Be it resolved that the property acquired by Harnett County and the town of
Dunn at a tax foreclosure sale under Judgment #1781 -A -853 be sold to Grady
Thompson on the following terms and conditions; S150. cash with this offer and $10.
per month due and payable on the 20th, day of each month until the remaining
unpaid balance of $250. and interest as stated below has been paid. Being those
lots described in that deed from I.R.Williams, Commissioner to B.H.H neycutt,
.
recorded in Book 212 at page 138 and in that deed from H.B.Uoneycutt to Mrs.Sadie
A.Kerr,to which deed and the record thereof is hereby made for a description
of same, and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized to
execute deed and the Clerk to the Board will attest the same.
The Board approved the appointment of Miss Doris UPchurch,Lillingto"n,N.C.
as Clerk in Register of eeds office made by 1rs.Inez Harrington on July 1,1942
following the resignation of Mrs.Ann Stewart Makey.Salary to be same as agreed
on at the appointment of Mrs.Makey B75. per month.
The Board recessed to reconvene on Wed. July 22,1942 at 2:00 otclock P.M.

It is ordered that Sidney G.Thomas be released of penalty in the amount of
4,50.94 for late listing of property in Johnsonville Township.

The Board did not approve the appropriation of *480.for services of a colored
Farm Agent in Harnett County.
Names of nominees to fill the vacancy created by the death of
Er., as Trustee of Harnett County Hospital were communicated to the
Coimnissioners,,and thereupon the Board named Mr.Henry M.Tyler one of
of Dunn,N.C. as Trustee of the Hospital,his term to expire

BE IT` RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County
following budget, covering the fiscal year 1942 -43,, be and the same
