HomeMy WebLinkAbout02021942385 February 2, 1942 The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session Monday, February 2, 1942, at 10 :00 O'clock A.M. with the following present: Chairman J.B.Ennis, and Commissioners Ferd D.Jackson, Augus A.Cameron, R.L.Pate and L.R.Byrd; also County Attorney H.C.Strickland, and Inez Harrington, Clerk to the Board. The monthly report of Lola O'Quinn, D.T.C. was presented, approved and filed. The monthly report of Inez Harrington, Reg. of Deeds, was presented, approved and filed. The monthly report of Howard Godwin,C.S.C. was presented, approved and filed. The monthly report of W.D.Harrington, Tax Collector, was presented, approved and filed. The Board of Commissioners appointed R.L.Pate and Ferd D.Jackson as the Courthouse Committee. It is ordered that the time within which to complete the listing of property for taxation for the year 1942, be and the same hereby is extended to and including Feb. 14, 1942. It is ordered that Albert Ray of Upper Little River Township be relieved of all taxes for the years preceding 1942. Sales contract under foreclosure #2171 -A -998 to Lula Buie, be extended on condition that she pay $50.00 on contract by that date First Monday in Mareh. The Board authorized the Tax Supervisor to employ the services of Herman S.Holloway and C.H.Thornton to assist and advise him as to the valuation of buildings and permanent improvements made on real estate since the 1941 assessment of real estate for taxation. It is ordered that tax valuation of property in the tools of Dunn, Averasboro Township, formerly the MCD.Holliday property and listed to Michael A.Williams, for the amount of $2850.00, be re- valued and listed to him for the sum of $1000.00, for the year 1941, on account of error in listing. It is ordered that Paul McPhail of Upper Little River Township, be relieved of poll taxes permanently on account of physicial disability, including 1941. It is ordered that $40.00 be allowed C.H.Avery of Duke Township for patroling the highway in Erwin. It is ordered that H.G.Matthews of Duke Township, be relieved of poll taxes permanently on account of physical disability, including year 1941. It is ordered that Herbert Carson be paid $125.00 salary per moth beginning January 1, 1942. It is ordered that the Register of Deeds be allowed $180.00 for extra help during the months of February, March and April. It is ordered that C.R.Ammons, County Farm Agent, be allowed to buy a Farm Terrance Level, at a cost of about $20.00.
