called the Principal, and The Piedelity & Casualty Company of New York,
hereinafter called the Surety, a corporation organized under the laws of
the State of New York, with its home office in the City of New York, in
the said State, are held and firmly bound unto The Harnett County Board of
Commissioners of Lillington State of North Carolina hereinafter called the
Obligee, in the sum of ONE THOUSAND AND 0/100 ($1,000.00), Dollars; for
the payment whereof to the Obligee the Principal binds himself, his heirs,
executors, administrators, and assigns, and the Surety binds itself, its
successors and assigns, jointly and severally firmly by these presents.

Whereas, the above - named principal has been duly appointed or elected
to the office of Insolvent Tax Collector for Averasboro, Duke & Grove
Townships of the County of Harnett, State of North Carolina for the term of
office beginning on November 3,1941 and ending on Indefinite.
Now, therefore, the condition of the foregoing obligation is such,
that if the Principal shall faithfully perform such duties as may be imposed
on him by law and shall honestly account for all money that may come into
his own hands in his official capacity during the said term, then this
obligation shall be void; otherwise it shall remain in force; provided,
however, that the Surety shall not be liable hereunder for any loss of
public money deposted by or in behalf of the Principal with any bank when
wuch loss is occasioned by the failure of such bank faithfully to account for
qnd pay over such money on legal demand; any law, decision, or statute to
the contrary notwithstanding.

This bond is further conditioned that the liability of the surety shall
be fully terminated as to future acts of the principal thirty (30) days after
the receipt by the obligee, of the surety's written notice of cancelation.

RESOLUTION
Whereas, Walter Lee Johnson and -Wife Lucille Spears- Johnson are
the owners of a lot near N & S Railroad Depot in Lillington described in Deed
from J.D.Lockamy and wife recorded in Book 273, page 473, and whereas said
property, if listed at all, has been listed irregularly; to F.H.Taylor 1927
thru 1936, and F.G.Eaton 1937 and 1938, and Herbert Taylor 1939 and 1940;
And whereas, tax suits have been filed and are pending on said
listings; and whereas, owner desires to pay and discharge all outstanding
County taxes for the year 1940 and prior years and offer the sum of $25.00
cash.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that County taxes on said property
be discharged and released for year 1940 and prior years upon payment of
suns of $25. to delinquent tax collector.

It is ordered that C.T.Moore of Upper Little River Twp. be relieved
of $2.12 poll tax for year 1941 for the reason that he is a 50% disabled
World War Veteran.

Lunch Room on Highway 301, 3i miles from Dunn,N.C.

AREAS, in the case entitled County of Harnett -vs- S.D. Whittenton,
Administrator, being #A488, Judgement was entered on the 7th. day of Oct. 1931,
which Judgement is docketed in Judgement Docket #23, page 168" and under said
judgement sale of the lands involved therein was made by J.O.West, Commissioner,
and at said sale the County of Harnett became the last and highest bidder and
said sale was confirmed and deed executed to the County by the Commissioner,
but said deed never having been recorded, and
WEEREAS all taxes on the lands involved in said suit have been paid by the
owner, and said judgement should be cancelled,
IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that said jddgement be cancelled, that said deed
be not recorded and that J.B.Ennis,Chaixman of this Board be and he is hereby
authorized to cancel said judgment of record.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the properties shown below, listed to the respective
tax payers, in the townships and for the amounts following, be and the same hereby
is relieved of the apparent liens of taxes, for the reasons set opposite each,
and the County Delinquent Tax Collector will take credit for these releases: -
1927 taxes listed to A.W.Hodges & Company,Averasboro township,
valuation $6075.00, total amount $125.15. This tax was paid
3/14/32- see General County Voucher No. 139. Deed having been
made by the County to Homer L.Hamilton,Book 243, page 83,
and thereafter to J.N.Creel,Jr., Book 242, page 317.
1927 taxes on valuation of $6300.00, listed to Mrs.Monnie
Coleman, Neilis Creek township, amount $98.91. This 35 acre
tract of land.was foreclosed by the County under Judgment A -105,
on 6 -2 -31, and deed executed by J.O.West, Commissioner, for
$301.48, to George D.woodley, recorded in Book 236, page 408.
1927 and 1928 taxes on total valuation of $2550.00, listed to
Ellis Goldstein in Grove township, aggregate, taxes being
$45.98. This 46 acre tract of land sold by 'Jaunty to M.G.Lee,
see Minutes 11 -5 -31, and deed recorded in Book 236, page 501.
1927 Taxes on valuation of $1872.00, listed to S.F.Doxman,Duke
township, amount of taxes being $38.95. This 6 acre tract of
land conveyed by County to Mary E.Byrd on 10 -5 -31 for $216.00.
See Book 236, page 515.
1928 taxes on valuation of $6319.00 listed by Martha Smith,
Black River township, total amount being $127.64. Taxes on
this 110 acre tract of land for 1928 were paid 3 -2 -31. See
Land Sale Book and credit thereon by J.O.West.
1928 taxes on $1288.00 valuation listed by H.L.Norris in
Black River township, aggregating $29.32, 1928 taxes shown
paid on Land Sale Book by J.0.West 3 -2 -31, the credit being
for $68.11.
1927 taxes on vaulation of $2050.00 listed by A.L.Kelly in
Black River township, amount being $46.68. This property was
foreclosed by the County 6 -2 -31, and sold to George D.
Woodley. See Book 236, page 410, and Book 243, page 513, for
recorded deed.
1927 taxes on valuation of $2511.00 listed by Benry Massey,
col. Black Elver township, the amount being $40.92. This
property was foreclosed by the County 6 -2 -31, and sold to
George D.Woodley for the sum of $168.22. See recorded deed
in Book -236, page 425.
Taxes for the years 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930 and 1931, on
valuation of $5000.00 for each year except for the year
1931 when valuation was $5500.00, listed by A.G.Blanchard in
Hector's Creek township,1 the aggregate amount of taxes being
$464.45. 331 acres of land for the years 1927 through 1931,
sold to Miss Maggie Blanchard and secured by deed of Trust
dated 2 -1 -32 and recorded in Book 241, page 232. Sale price
$660.82. Paid in Nil Sept. 1,1934, by F.S.Blanchard. See
General County voucher No.444.

Taxes for 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1931, on valuation of
$1015.00 for each year, except 1931, when the valuation
was $1115.00, listed to Hoyle & Hoyle, in Upper
Little River township, aggregate amount of taxes being
$69.49. This 30 acre tract of land was foreclosed by
the County for taxes and sold to E .W.McLeod 2- 10 -36.
See deed recorded in Book 258, page 409.
Taxes for year 1931 on valuation of $1152.00, and for
1932 valuation $1116.00, and for 1933 valuation of
$825.00, and for 1934, valuation $830.00, listed to
Vance Cotton, col. and sold to E.W.McLeod 2- 10 -36,
deed recorded in Book 258,page 409, and is the same
land listed to Hoyle & Hoyle for 1927 through 1931,
and to Vance 0otton for 1931 through 1934.
Be it resolved that the property acquired at tax foreclosure Judg #2222 -
A -1264 by the County of Harnett and Town of Dunn be sold to Marvin Wade,Sr.
for the sum of $61.34 cash being One lot or parcel of land 60 x 140 feet
in Block "FM" according to the plan of the Town of Dunn, N.C. - -- Beginning
at a point in the Western margin of Layton Ave., 60 feet from its intersection
with the Northern margin of Vance Street and runs thence Northwardly with
Layton Ave., 60 feet, thence West and parallel with Vance Street 140 feet to
the alley, thence Southwardly with the alley 60 feet, thence Eastwardly and
parallel with Vance Street 140 feet to the beginning, and the Chairman of
Board is hereby authorized to execute deed to Marvin Wade,Sr. and the Clerk
will attest same.
Be it resolved that the property acquired by the County.of Harnett at a
tax foreclosure sale under judgment #S.D. 1758 -845 be sold to R.M.Mangum and
J.A.Hockaday for the sum of $223.96 cash. 1 lot formerly listed in the name
of Bertha Sercy and located on the South side of Church Street in the Town of
Angier, N.C. and the chairman of the board is hereby authorized to execute
deed to R.M.Mangum and J.A. Hockaday and the Clerk to the Board will attest
same. °
Be it resolved that the property acquired by the County of Harnett under
tax foreclosure sale under Judgment #1986 -A -946 formerly listed to F.L.Moore
be sold to Mrs.Nellie Moore.on the following terms S92.22 cash with this offer
and 8100. on Nov. 1,1942 and $100. on November 1,1943, six percent interest
on balance -- Being Lots number 5 and 6 of the J.W.Moore land as shown in
report of Commissioners dated Feb. 1,1923 and duly registered in Book 212 at
page 64 in the office of the Register of Deeds for Harnett County containing
20 acres more or less. Also, see further deed from Lorena Barbour and
husband,W.A.Barbour to Nellie Moore, registered in Book 261 at page 472,
Harnett County Registry, and the Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized
to execute deed to Mrs.Nellie Moore and the Clerk to the Board will attest same.
Be it resolved that the property acquired by the County of Harnett and the
Town of Bunn under tax foreclosure sale under Judgment 5274 -A -1350 be sold
to Sam P.Cannaday for the sum of $900. on the following terms and conditions
vP300. cash with this offer and $300. on the 12th, day of Nov. 1942 and $300.
on the 12th. day of November 1943 with 6% interest on deferred payments.
1st tract: Being 1 Lot or parcel of land on the West side of So.Wilson
Ave., in Block "CK "according to the map of the Town of Dunn and fronting
approximately 249 2/3 feet on So.Wilson Ave., by 85 feet deep and formerly
known as the J.R.Dannady property.
2nd tract: One lot or parcel of land on the West side of So.Magnolia Ave.,
according to the map of the Town of Dunn and runs approximately 300 feet with
So. Magnolia Ave. and being a lot about 75 feet by 300 feet and formerly
known as the J.R.Cannady property.
3rd tract: One lot or parcel of land on the North side of East Cumberland

HARIvETT COUNTY.
WHEREAS there appears on the tax books of the County, listed in the name of
G.F.Pope and A.F. Pope, one house and lot located on S.Layton and Canary Streets
in Dunn; and whereas upon investigation of the Tax Supervisor, it appears that no
such house and lot exists,
IT IS, THEREFORE, ordered that all taxes paid the County for the years 1939,
1940, on said house and lot be refunded to the taxpayers, and the taxes for 1941
be released.

Be it resolved that the property in Black River Township formerly listed to
R.T.Rambeau and acquired by the County of Harnett at tax foreclosure sale under
Judgment No. 2299 -A -1292 be sold to A.H.Rambeau for the sum of $242.34 cash for
the 172 acres. The Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute deed
to A.H.Rambeau and the Clerk to the Board will attest the same.

Mr.J.O.Sutton and wife,Myrtie Sutton,presented to the Board check for $1725.
being the initial and cash payment on the Old County Prison Farm, and executed
and delivered their vote for deferred payments, secured by their executed and
acknowledged deed of trust on the subject property, all in keeping with the
resolution of the Board adopted Nov. 13,1941
Thereupon, the deed to Mr. and Mrs.Sutton was recorded, with Map of the
property, and the deed of trust securing the note for deferred payments was
recorded.
The following road petition was approved by the Board and ordered forwarded
to the State Highway & Public Works Commission
to improve (1) the section..of road from Mr.C.G.Myatt's place to Lonzie
Cameron's (cola) place, a distance of 2 mile, which is a_school bus route and
a mail route; and (2) the section of road from McCormick's store tot he old
Mooney place,which is a bus route.

It is ordered that, because of failure to comply with the terms of
contract made by the County with Glenn Brantley, dated 7/10/39, in respect
of the purchase by Brantley from the County of land in Stewarts Creek Township,
the contract be surrendered to the County and that Mr.Brantley be notified that
the County will no longer be bound by its terms.

The Board appointed a committee composed of H.C.Strickla ni,L.M.Chaffin,
Ferd D.Jackson and H.S.Freeman to investigate the cost of a modern system of
indexing in the Register of Deeds Office and report at the next meeting of the
board.
County Offices will be closed Wednesday, December 24th at 12:00 until
Monday,Dec. 29th.
