Home My WebLink About10291940242 October 29, 1940 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in a call session on Tuesday, October 29, 1940, at 2:00 P.M. with the following present: ChairmanJ.B.Ennia, and Commissioners R.L.Pate, Ferd D.Jackson and A.A.Cameron. It is ordered that beer license be granted to Ashley Bruce Johnson at Redts Place one mile North of Lillington, on Highway No. 15A. It is ordered that beer license be granted to Brussel Lewis Johnson at Johnson & Cotten Service Station one mile South of Rawls Church on Highway 15A. The following road petition was approved and ordered forwarded to the State Highway and Public Works Commission: (1) to complete the Lillington - Johnsonville Road at the point from the Lillington - Harrington Road to Olivia byway of Barbecue Church. It is ordered that the four -room tenant house'on the County Farm be given to the use of the State Extension Department under the supervision of the County Agentts office, for the mattress making project. WHEREAS, Mrs. Janie Byrd, the wife of our esteemed co- worker and friend, Honorable Lonnie R.Byrd, has been taken from our midst by death; and WHEREAS, the members of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County individually and collectively desire to give expression to their sympathy to Mr. Byrd and his family: - NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved, that the members of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, do hereby - extend to Mr. Lonnie R.Byrd and his family their sincere and heart- felt sympathy because of their bereavement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County do adjourn in respect f:ar our friend, Mr. Lonnie R.Byrd, and the members of his family; and that a copy of these Resolutions be transmitted to Mr. Byrd and his family, and that a copy be spread upon the Minutes of this Board, and a copy be furnished thepress.
