July 24, 1940
The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Wednesday, July 24th.
1940, at 2 :30 Otclock P.M. with Chairman J.B.Ennis and Commissioners R.L.Pate,
Angus A.Cameron, Ferd D.Jackson and Lonnie R.Byrd present; County Attorney
H.C.Strickland was present also.

the request be transmitted to the State School Commission.

It is ordered that the after - listing of 123 acres of land in Black River
Township, adjoining D.L.Adams and J.P.Gardner, to Norwood R.Young, for the
years 1932 -1936 inclusive, be stricken of record the said property having
been listed for said years by Dr. C.R.Young, as fGnimes land", and taxes
having been paid.

Harnett County: Resolution:
Be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County assembled
in special meeting July 24, 1940, that the State Highway and Public Works
Commission be and they hereby are respectfully requested to improve and treat
with an all weather surfacing a road through Buckhorn Township (which
Township is thickly populated and is without any all- weather roads), said
road leading from U.S.Highway No. 15A, at a point near the Beacon Light
1.7 miles south of Kipling and running thence near Cumberland Union Church
and through Cokesbury to the junction of a road leading to Macedonia Church,
said junction being 1.6 miles from the Chatham County line, said road being
more particularly delineated on the accompanying map by a red mark running
from (A) to (B); that of the projects to be undertaken in Harnett County, it
is the sense of the Board of Commissioners that this project is most
deserving and that it be preferred to the surfacing of other roads.
There being no further business, the -Board adjourned.
