September 4, 1939.
The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session
Monday, September 4th. 1939, at 10:00 O'clock A.M., with Chairman J.B.Ennis
present with the following Commissioners: L.R.Byrd, Ferd D.Jackson, and
A.A.Cameron. Commissione R.L.Pate was absent. Present also were County
Attorney H.C.Strickland, the Clerk to the Board.
Mrs.E.H.Lassiter, Mrs. Alton Johnson, Mrs. William Morgan and Mrs. Pou
Bradley, heading a delegation of Home Demonstration Club members, appeared
before the Board and asked that some provision be made to employ,a County
Home Demonstration Agent. 'The Board explained that an appointment of an
agent had been made, and that all that is needed is confirmation by the
State Director.
It is ordered that the 55 acres of land in Johnsonville Township, formerly
owned by Tom Jenkins (colored), and acquired by County of Harnett at tax
foreclosure sale under Judgment No. SD 2168 -A -1248 be sold to ----W.E.Cbchrane---
on the following conditions: $25.00 cash, and 075.00 December 1, 1939;
balance together with 6 per cent. interest and 1939 and 1940 taxes
December 1, 1940, and the Chairman of the Board and Clerk to the Board, are
authorized to execute Deed to W.E.Cochrane.
It is ordered that the cause presented by J.M.Taylor, Dunn, N.C.,
Averasboro Township, be called to the attention of Miss Lillie Davis,
County Welfare Officer.
It is ordered that the County accept $18.90 in full payment of the
1928 taxes on one lot on Fayetteville and Granville Streets, in town of Dunn,
listed to R.B.Sykes, J.H.& R.R.Raynor.
The report of W.D.Harrington, Tax Collector, was approved and ordered
placed on file.
The report of Howard Godwin, Clerk of the Superior
and ordered placed on file.
The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds
placed on file.

The following road petitions were approved and ordered forwarded to the
State Highway and Public Work s Commission:
(1) for the extension of the public road, known as the Rosser Road, in
Barbecue Township, Harnett County, from a point at the home of J.B.Warrick
and extending thence by way of the properties of Lesie Pittman to a
point in the Barbecue Road near the home of C.W.Howard. This road,
therefore, when extended, will connect the Rosser Road with the
Barbecue Road.
(2) to improve the old road in Black River Township, Harnett County,
beginning at the horse of Layton Butts and on the Angier - Buie's Creek road
via of Dr.J.A.Campbell's and running thence East to Oak Grove Church,
a distance of about one mile.

the Town of Dunn under tax foreclosure sale under Judg. 2007 -A -1352- e so
to Hattie Thaggard for the total sum of $600.00 on the olllwing term,$200.00
cash with the offer and $20.00 per month for twenty months due and payable
on 17th day of month until $400.00 has been paid-. -The Chai an of -- Board -3s --
hereby authorized to execute Deed and the Clerk will'attest'iame.
There tieing no other business to come before the meeting the Board
recessed to continue its session at 9:30 o'clock A.M. Sept. 13,1939.
