DECEMBER 4th, 1950
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday Dec. 4th, 1950
at 10:30 o'clock A. M. with L. A. Tart, Chairman, Paul Tysinger, Carson Gregory,
C. G. Fields and J. A. Senter present also were the County Attorney and Clerk to
the Board.
The monthly report of L. M. Chaffin, C. S. C., was approved and ordered
filed.
The monthly report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and
ordered filed.
The report of Duncan Ray, Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of L. B. McLean, veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of the grand jury was read and ordered filed.
C. G. Fields, moved seconded by Carson Gregory that the County pay to the
Southeastern Radio Co., Raleigh,N.C. the sum of $65.85 the same being the balance
on the purchase price of a public address system and tape recorder purchased by
the County Agent as shown on invoice #R6283. Voting for: Fields, Gregory and Tart,
Voting against: Senter and Tysinger.
The following road petitions were approved for hard surfacing and ordered
forwarded to State Highway & Public Works Commission.
(1) That road in Averasboro Township which runs from 301 at W. R. Denning
home place to N.C. X40 at Jim Hodges Place and known as the Hodges Chapel Road a
distance of approximately two miles to be all weather hard surface road.
(2) That certain road in Neiil's Creek which runs from Franklin's Store at
the intersection of Highway #40 to the intersection of Highway #55 to be hard
surfaced.
(3) That certain road in Barbecue Township, be

Commissioner J. A. Senter introduced the following resolution, which was
WHEREAS, this is the final meeting of the Board of Commissioners as now
constituted and:
WHEREAS, said Board of Commissioners is desirious, both as a Bard and
as individual members thereof, of expressing to the various employees and
officials of Harnett County its appreciation for the friendly and pleasant
cooperation which said employees and officials have given said Board of Commissioner
during its tenure, and
WHEREAS, said Board of Commissioners further desires to thank said employees
and officials of Harnett County for the loyal and efficient service which they
have rendered to the citizens of Harnett County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of Commissioners of Harnett
County that it does hereby express to the various employees and officials of
Harnett County its appreciation fof the cooperation which they have given said
Board during its term, and does also thank said employees and officials for the
loyal and efficient service which they have rendered to Harnett County and the
people thereof;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That said Board of Commissioners does hereby
express its willingness to cooperate wit» the incoming Board of Commissioners and
render to such incoming Board all possible assistance in the event said incoming
Board should desire or request the same.
Upon motion of Commissioner Carson Gregory seconded by Commissioner J. A.
Senter, the foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted.
J. A. Senter moved seconded by Paul Tysinger hat the Board of Commissioners
as now constituted adjourned in order that the penco rd 9d' Commissioners
now takeover.

THE SUPERIOR COURT OF HARNETT COUNTY
EX PARTE
This cause coming on to be heard before the undersigned upon the appointment of
a Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court of Harnett County, and it appearing that the
proper discharge of the duties of the office,of Clerk of the Superior Court renders
the appointment of a Deputy Clerk a public necessity for the common good; and it
further appearing after due inquiry and consideration that Elizabeth F. Matthews,
is a discreet and competent person to discharge the duties of the office of .Deputy
Clerk and is a fit and propert person to occupy said office;
NOW, THEREFORE, in obedience to public necessity and in compliance with the
laws of the State of North Carolina as set forth in Sections 935 and 936 of the
Consolidated Statues of North Carolina and the general laws of the Ztate, and in
exercise of the authority Vested in me by laws, I do hereby appoint, constitute
and commission the said Elizabeth F. Matthews as Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court
of Harnett County, with authority to act in as full, free and ample manner as she
is by law directed. Let her take and subscribe the oath as required by law.

also solemnly sweat that I do not, directly or indirectly, hold any lucrative
office in said State; and I do further sweat that I will execute the office of the
Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court of Harnett County, without prejudice, favor,
affection, partiality, to the best of my ability, so help me, God.
