HomeMy WebLinkAbout08071950AUGUST 1950 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County„,met in regular forum on Monday Aug. 7, 1950 at 10 :30 A,. M. with L A Tart., C. G. Fields, QA. Senter and Carson Gregory present. Paul l J ysinger was absent. Also present were the County Attorney, the auditor and the Clerk to the Board. The report of L. M. Chaffin, C. S. C., was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The report of D. P. Ray,Jr., Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed. The report of L. B. McLean was approved and ordered filed. C. G. Fields moved seconded by Carson Gregory that the amount set up in the budget for the Sheriff's Office for a special deputy be transfered to the amount and added for Clerical help in the Sheriffs Office. Voting for Fields and Gregory Voting against: Senter J A Senter moved, seconded by Carson Gregory that Mrs. K. C. Matthews be allowed $75: per month as matron of' the County jail and that K. C. Matthews be allowed $125. per month as jailer, beginning August 1, 1950. Motion carried. The following Jurors were drawn fof Jury duty for the term of Court beginning September 4, 1950. Henry W. Grove Anderson Creek Duke Averasboro Upon motion of Commissioner Gregory, seconded by Commissioner Fields, the following resolution was unanimously adopted Whereas an order was heretofore ented on June 5, 1950, directing that notice of public hearing upon the petition for the establishment of a Sanitary District in East Erwin be published in the Dunn Dispathh for four consecutive weeks, said notice to provide, among other things, that said public hearing would be held on Friday, July 7 and; Whereas, said notice was delivered to the Dunn Dispatch with instructions to the effect that it be run therein for four consecutive weeks, and through an oversight the same was run for only one week, with the result that notice of said hearing was not Liven as required by law and that it is therefore necessary to set a new date for said public hearing and advertise the same by the publication of notice as by law required; Now therefore, it is unanimously ordered that the public hearing on said petition be held in the Courthouse in Lillington, North Carolina, on Tuesday, Sept 5, 1950, at 11 o'clock A. (1) putting into all weather road the strip not over .8 mile in length extending from the Crawford road a traction of .8 mile South east of the R. L. byrd intersection of State Highway #421 around by the Z.E.Byrd hone place aryl back into Highway #421 at Mrs Ben Upchurch's home. (2) For state maintenance a road to be located in tR'ove Township, Harnett County N.C. and beginning at a point about 300 yards west of Mingo onthe road leading from Oakdale School to t he Parley Wood place and goes in a westward direction practically as the old path across the lands, of Susan Johnson and W B Trt to a crook in the path; thence turning somewhat in a Southwest direction across the Walter Ennis lands into the road leading from Coats to the Parley Wood road, a distance of approximately one mile. (3) Beginning at a point in the "Old Atkins Road" at the Nellie Thompson place then a westerly direction through the W C Marshburn farm, Layton farm in Stewarts Creek Township for a distance of about 6/10 of a mile. This road is at the present time being used as a RFD route, and enters the Temple Road about 4 mile South of Highway 210. The board ordered the County Offices to be closed on Monday Sept. 4th in observence of Labor Day unless Superior Court convenes on that day.
