MARCH 1950:.
The Board cf Commissioners of Harnett County meet in special called session at
their room in the Courthouse at Lillington,N.C., at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, March
1, 1950.
Present, Chairman L.A.Tart, and Commissioners C ".G.Fields,J.A.Senter, and absent
on account of sickness were commisioner Tysinger and Commissioner Gregory.
Hon. L. M. Chaffin, having been appointed to the office of Clerk of the
Superior Court of Harnett County to succeed Hon. Howard Godwin, resigned, tendered
his official bond in the amount of 110000.00, with Maryland Casualty Co. as Surety
thereon, The bond was properly executed and in due form, and the surety was found
sufficient. It was thereupon approved. Voting for acceptance and approval were:
Commissioners J A Senter C G Fields, L. A. Tart against: none.
The bond was ordered recorded on the minutes and filed with the Register of'
Deeds.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
THAT L NI CHAFFIN, LILLINGTON, N. C., AS PRINCIPAL AND THE MARYLAND CASUALTY CO.
of Baltimore, as Surety, are held and firmly bound unto the State of' North Carolina
in the sum of an Thousand and 00 /100 fIO, 000.00 Dollars, for the payment of which
well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, personal representatives
and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounden has
been elected clerk of the superior court of Harnett County for the term of nine
(9) months from and after the lst day of March 1950.
Now if the said L M Chaffin shall account for and pay over according to law all
moneys and effects which have come or may come into his hands by virtue or color
of his office, or under an order or decree of the judge, even though such order
or decree be void for want of jurisdiction or other irregularities, and kkall
diligently preserve and take care of all books, records and papers which have come-
or may come into his possession or color of his office, and shall in all things
faithfully perform the duties of his office as they are or hereafter shall be
prescribed by law, then this obligation is to be void; otherwise to remain in full
force and effect.

L M Chaffin tendered his resignation as Vice recorder of the Recorder's Court of
Harnett County to Sake effect as of this day. The Board accepted the resignation
There being no further business to be transacted at this meeting the Board ajourned
to reconvene Monday March 6, 1950.
