JULY 26, 1948
The Board of Commissioners met in a call session July 26, 1948 at 10:00 A M
with all members present also present were Herbert D. Carson,Jr., Auditor and Inez
Harrington, Clerk to Board.
Beer License was granted to Grady Smith, Dunn, N. C.
Beer License was granted to Jas W Thornton Dunn,N.C. #3 at Thornton Store.
Upon recommendation of Mrs Mary McAllister, South Eastern Dist. Home Demonstratio
Agent of the Extension Dept., Raleigh, N.C. the board appointed Miss Lela Faxon
Huntley, Morven, N.C. #1, Anson County as assistant Home Demonstration Agent of Harnett
County to begin her duties Aug. 16, 1948.
Mrs S R McKay, County Libarian appeared before Board and gave report of her
work during the year.
The following road petition was approved and ordered forwarded to State
Highway & P blic Works Commission that all weather road be made of that certain road
in Neill's Creek Township, beginning at Harold Butt's Filling Station and running
South to the Buies Creek Coats Highway passing by the homes of Joe Johnson,
Cleveland Johnson, Clarence Laskin, Tyson Betts, Mrs J A Betts et al a distance
of approximately five (5) miles.
RESOLUTION
Be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that there
shall be and there is hereby levied and assessed against all taxable property
within the County of Harnett, taxes at the respective rates as set forth below for
the use of the County,per $100 valuation of said property, for the fiscal year
1948-49:
