HomeMy WebLinkAbout07051948425 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday July 5th with Angus A Cameron Chairman, R L Pate, Ferd D Jackson and L R Byrd being present. L A Tart being absent also present were H D Carson,Jr. Auditor, Henry C Strickland Atty. and Inez Harrington, Clerk. Bond in amount of $1000.00 for W F Bethune, Constable in Lillington Township was approved and ordered filed with the C S C MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY, BALTIMORE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF FARNETT TOWNSHIP OF LILLINGTON KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS That we, W F Bethune, Lillington, North Carolina, as Principal, and the Maryland Casualty Co. of Baltimore, as Surety, are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina in the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,0c0.00) to the true and faithful payment whereof we bind ourselves, our heirs, personal representatives and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. The condition of this obligation is such that whereas the above bounden has been duly appointed a Constable for Lillington Township in and for the County of Harnett for a term beginning on June 7, 1948 and ending Dec 6, 1949. Now therefore, if the said W F Bethune shall diligently endeavor to collect all claims put into his hands for collection, and shall faithfully pay over all sums thereon received, either with or without suit, unto the persons to whom the same may be due, and shall from time to time, and at all times during his continuance in office, faithfully discharge his duties as Constable according to law, then the above obligation is void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Beer license were issued to Henrietta Selby at Ma' Kitchen & Tourist Camp 3 miles south of Dunn on U S Highway #301. Beer license were issued to Clyde Cameron, Cameron,N.C. #2 at Cameron's Service Station. Beer license were issued to Russell B. Dorman at S & S Grill in Dunn,N.C. Beer license were issued to W B McLamb Angier,N.C. #2 at McLamb's Grocery. The board approved and forwarded to State Highway Commissioners a petition as follows: that the State Highway will take over and maintain that certain road in Upper Little River Township beginning at a point on the curve at the home of J B Collins on that road known as the river road and runs west by the home of Dee Collins, Raymond Porter farm, Albert Brown, Elmore Newton and others to a point near the home of Elmore Newton on that road known as the Raven Rock road a distance of approximately 22 miles. The report of Howard Godwin, C S C was approved and ordered filed. The report of L B McLean, Veteran Officer was approved and ordered filed. The report of W D Harrington Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of Loraine Vail, Home Dem. Agent was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The budget estimate for the fiscal year 1948 1949 was submitted to the Board whereupon it was ordered filed in the office of the Clerk of the Board for public inspection, and a summary of it was ordered published and copies given to the press. 426 RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that the following budget, for the fiscal year 1948 49, be and the same is hereby adopted and the tax levy for the said fiscal year is hereby appropriated: General, Poor and Health Old Age Assistance Aid to Dependent Children Bond Fund School Fund Current Expenses Capital.0utlay Debt Service $165,930.00. 168,764.00 79,988.00 $228,500.00- 102,000.00 45,000.00 46,000.00 414,682.00 Township Road Fund 30,030.00 $866,212.00 Special District No. 2 Averasboro Township Approved July 5, 1948.
