"Be it resolved that W D Harrington, Harnett County Tax Collector for the 1945-
1946 County Tax Levy, and for the collection of delinquent Harnett County Taxes, for
the purpose of effecting annual tax settlement for the fiscal year clOsed June 30, 1946,
and for no other purpose, be and herhereby is relieved of charges for deIin guent tax
items for the collection of which he was entrusted; and said delinguent tax items and
other uncfllected and accrued taxes for the County of Harnett to be recharged to said
Collector upon delivery to him of the levy for 1946 -47 taxes due and to become due
to said County."

The Board ordered that Beer and wine be granted to Duke Slaughter, Angier, N C j2
at Hill Top Service Station.
Be it resolved that the property formerly listed to Hen McKay Pearsall and acquired
by Harnett County and A L Newberry the town of Dunn at a tax foreclosure sale under
Judg # A -1038 be sold to Mrs. Brownnie Exxell Pearsall for the sum of $p400. cash and
described as 1 lot corner of McKay Aven and Canary Street size 140 x 150 TheChm is
hereby authorized to execute deed to Mrs. Brownnie Ezzell Pearsall and the Clark will
attest same.

HARNETT COUNTY
"WHEREAS, it has beenmade known to the Board of Commissioners of the County
of Harnett that a public hearing is to be held in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on
September. 16, 1946 beginning at 10 o'clock A M as to the necessity for providing flood
control on the Cape Fear River by broper dredging of the same, and
WHE EAS, the property owners along the banks of Cape Fear River and its tributaries
and the citizens generally of Harnett County are much interedted in the sUiaject of
flood control and particularly as the hearing may relate to an improvement of the
existing unsatisfacgory conditions which prevail along the Cape Fear River; and
WHEREAS, recent floods which inundated the farmim g lands and pastures of the
farmers and others in Harnett County along the Cape Fear River caused much damages `
and resulted in appeal& for relief to the governing officials of units in Harnett
County, and it appears both necessary and imperative that steps'be taken to prevent
recurrences of the many floods up on the lands along said River;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County
that it is the sense of the Board that the people of Harnett Bounty should be
acquainted with the fact that opportunity to be heard at Fayetteville on Monday Sept
16, 1946 at the Federal Court Robin, will be afforded them and that they should be so
acquainted with said fact, so that they may appear and make known the damaging and
dangerous conditions now existing with respect to the floods on the Cape Fear River; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Board of Commissioners unanimously approve of the
proposal to dredge the Cape Fear River and to otherwise take all needed and proper
seeps to effect safe and practical flood control of said River, all to the end that
the safety of property and crops along its banks in Harnett County my no longer be
jeopardized."

"BE IT RESOLVED that the following orddr and command be and the same hereby is
ordered delivered to W D Harrington, the duly appointed tax collector of Harnett
County for the year beginning July 1, 1946, and ending June 30, 1947:
"You are hereby authorized, empowered and commanded to collect the taxes set
forth in the tax bookd filed in the Office of the Harnett County Tax Supervisor, and
in the tax receipts herewith delivered to you, in the amounts and from the tax
payers likewise set forth, and such taxes are he eby declared to be a first lien on
all real property of the respective tax payers in Harnett County, and this order
shall be a full and sufficient authority to direct, require and enable you to levy
on and sell any real or personal property of such tax payers, for and on account
thereof, in accordance with law.
"You are further hereby authorized, empowered and commanded to forthwith proceed
with the collection of all other taxes and revenues which are now due, past due,
or nhich may hereafter become due during your term of Office as Harnett County Tax
Collector."
