The board of Commissioners met in regular session May 6, 1946 at 10 :00 o'clock
A M with J B Ennis, Chairman, Ferdcd.Jackson, A Cameron, L R byrd, R L Pate, Henry
Strickland, County Attorney, and Inez "arrington, Clerk to the Board.
The report of Howard Godwin, C ° C was approved and ordered filed.
The report of W y Harrington, Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of Inez Barrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered filed.
It is ordered that because of error L M Fish, R #1 Fuquay Springs, N C be relieved
to the extent of x$500.00 valuation of realty listed in Buckhorn Towns hip for the year
1945; acid that he be refunded $8.25 on account of same.
The Board of Commissioners heard Mr. D A urcLeods oral application for free privile
license to sell beer in Angier, he being alledgedly blind. He was advised to file
his formal application in the prescribed form, and the Board designated the County
Welfare Officer to make an investigation of the facts and to submit facts whether
Mr. McLeod:
1. Is blind
2. Has gross income not edceeding $1200 per year.
3. Is of good moral character
4. Is capable of conducting the business of selling beer.
and the welfare officer was requested to report her findings to the board of
Commissioners.
It is ordered that upon payment to the County of Harnett 50 by Lucy McNeill,
that the lien of taxes for 1945 and prior years on that lot in Averasboro Township
listed to Rafe McNeill on south Wilson Avenue (extended P be released; and that the same
be listed for 1946 to Lucy Byrd McNeill.
The following road petitions were approved and ordered forwarded to the State
Highway & Public Workd Commissioner

Township.

fr ncipal shall faithfully perform auch duties as may be imposed on him by law and
shall honestly account for all money that may come into his own hands in his official
capacity during the said tern, then this obligation shall be void; otherwise it shall
remain in force; provided, however, that the "urety shall not be liable hereunder
for any loss of public money deposited by or in behalf of the rrincipal with any bank
when such loss is occasioned by the failure of such bank faithfully to account for
and pay over such money on legal demand; any law, decision, or statute to the con -

It appearing to the 3oard of County Commissioners that on April 8, 1946 while
the members of the County hoard of Commissioners were sitting as a Board of Equalizatio
and Review, that the issuance of license to sell beer at retail was issued(or approved
to be issued) to James B McLeod, of Angier, N C on Bread Street in said town; and it
further appearing that at that time the license had not procured license from the
authorities of the Town of Angier to sell beer within said town, and has not since
obtained said license, but, on the contrary, has been indicted and convicted of
selling beer within said town without having first procured the required license from
the governing board of said Town, and that the license authorized ho be issued as
aforesaid by the County of narnett was issued prematurely, irregularly and without
warrant of law, said license being numbered 41 on the County license Book:
IT IS THEREFORE, ORDERED by the narnett County Commissioners that the license
No 41, heretofore issued to James B McLeod of Angier, N C to sell beer at retail on
Broad Street in said Town, on April 8, 1946, be and the same is hereby revoked and
rescinded; and that the licensee be so notified by the Tax Collector, and that a
check for 425. in refund of the license fee paid by the licensee be returned to hiw+
The said James B McLeod will surrender to the County Tax Collector the said license.
Unanimously adopted, this 6th day of May, 1946.
