The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session April 1,1946 with

The monthly report of Inez Harrington Register of Deeds was approved and ordered
filed.
The monthly report of Howard Godein, C S C was approved and ordered filed.
The monthly report of W D Barrington, Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed.
It is ordered that Robert M Newton Bunnlvvel -- relieved of pill tax permanent on acco
of physical disability.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that ierbert D Carson, Jr., Lillington, N C
as Principal (hereinafter called Principal) and the MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY, A
corporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of
Baltimore, Maryland as Surety, (hereinafter called the Surety) are held and firmly
bound unto the County of Harnett N C in the penalty of Ten 'Thousand and 00 /OO Dollars
($10,000.00) to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done, the said
Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, and the said Surety
binds itself, its sucdessors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these
presents.
THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGCINI OBLIGATION I3 SUCH, that WHEREAS, the said
Principal was appointed County Auditor and Accountant on the bth day of Aovember 1945
and ending on the 4th day of December 1946.
NOW, TIEREFCRE, if the said lrincipal shall, during* the term of this bond, well
and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of
his appointment as said County Auditor and Accountant except as hereinafter limited
and honestly account for all moneys coming into nis hand as said County Auditor and
Accountant according tc law, then th'Ls obligation shall be null and void; it is
otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
THIS BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express conditions, which
shall be conditions precedent to the right or recovery hereunder.
IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that if the
Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days'notice
in writing to the said County of 'arnett, r C and this bond shall be deemed cancelled
at the ex,iration of said thirty (3Q) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all
or any act or acts covered by the bond which may have been committed by the Principal
up to the date of such cancellation under the terms, conditions and provisions of
this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all
liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part ti,ereof, for the
time this bond shall have been in force.
IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that the
Surety shall hot be liable to said County of Harnett County, N 0 for any loss or losses
resulting by reason of the failure of the said Principal to collect any portion or all
taxes which he may be chargeable to collect by reason of his appointment as said
County Auditor and Accountant and tnat said Surety shall not be liable for failure
of the said principal to take any legal action to collett such taxes.
AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES HERETO,
that the said Surety shall not be liable to said County of Harnett N C for any losses
resulting to said County of Harnett, N C by reason of any public moneys being now
on general or-special deposit or hereagter placed on general or special deposit by
the said Principal, with any bank, depository, or depositories, or by reason of the
allowance to or acceptance by said Principal of any interest thereon, any Law, Decision
or Statute of the State of North Carolina or Ordinance of the said County of Harnett,
to the contrary notwithstanding.

created by and existing under the laws of the State of Maryland, of Baltimore City,
Maryland, being authorized by its Charter to transact a general surety, casualty, and

conveyed to Willie H Bell and Florence Bell on the 26th day of February, 1924, by
Arthur McKay and Bessie McKay, his wife, by Warranty Deed, said deed being recorded
in the Office of the Register of Deeds for riarnett County in Book 210, at page 248.
The foregoing lot of land being the identical lot foreclosed for taxes by the
County of Harnett and the Town of Dunn as shown in Judgment Docket No_A -902 and
recorded in Book No 25, at page 99, Office Clerk Superior Court for Harnett County/

The board of Commissioners met in regular session May 6, 1946 at 10 :00 o'clock
A M with J B Ennis, Chairman, Ferdcd.Jackson, A Cameron, L R byrd, R L Pate, Henry
Strickland, County Attorney, and Inez "arrington, Clerk to the Board.
The report of Howard Godwin, C ° C was approved and ordered filed.
The report of W y Harrington, Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of Inez Barrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered filed.
It is ordered that because of error L M Fish, R #1 Fuquay Springs, N C be relieved
to the extent of x$500.00 valuation of realty listed in Buckhorn Towns hip for the year
1945; acid that he be refunded $8.25 on account of same.
The Board of Commissioners heard Mr. D A urcLeods oral application for free privile
license to sell beer in Angier, he being alledgedly blind. He was advised to file
his formal application in the prescribed form, and the Board designated the County
Welfare Officer to make an investigation of the facts and to submit facts whether
Mr. McLeod:
1. Is blind
2. Has gross income not edceeding $1200 per year.
3. Is of good moral character
4. Is capable of conducting the business of selling beer.
and the welfare officer was requested to report her findings to the board of
Commissioners.
It is ordered that upon payment to the County of Harnett 50 by Lucy McNeill,
that the lien of taxes for 1945 and prior years on that lot in Averasboro Township
listed to Rafe McNeill on south Wilson Avenue (extended P be released; and that the same
be listed for 1946 to Lucy Byrd McNeill.
The following road petitions were approved and ordered forwarded to the State
Highway & Public Workd Commissioner
(1) From Seminole on Highway #421 to Bennie Hugh McCormicks home in Barbecue
Township.
(2) From Dallas Kelly's farm to Carey Howard's farm a distance of 4.5 mile.
