HomeMy WebLinkAbout06041945155 1 June 4, 1945 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in re ualr session on Monday June 4m 1945 at 10;00 A. M. with all members present also present were Clerk to Board and County Attorney. It is ordered that the equipment owned by County known as #1 Adamas Terracer to be sold to M. D. Johnson for sum of $135.00 to be paid .j40. this date and balance on July 1st. The monthly report of Howard Godwin was presented, approved and ordered filed. The monthly report of Inez Harrington was presented, approved and ordered filed. The monthly report of W. D. Harrington was presented, approved and ordered filed. The Board authorized and directed James Jasper Barnes to procure and e rect a 5000 gallow Cypress Tank on 50 foot sturetual steel support with automatic cut -off switch, with 6 in pipe; steel structure to be of galvonized steel if possible, the tank to be at invoice price and to be erected at County Home. Approximately $1300.00 cost. It was ordered that the sum of $250. be put in the 1945 -46 County Budget county Poor Fund for the use of county poor mother of illegitimate children, (to be used through Salvation Army). Beer License were granted to John R. McLean at Archie's Place Dunn, N, C, #5, Beer License and wine were granted to George R. Joseph at the Chrustal Cream and Candy Co. 103 East Broad Street, Dunn, N, C, Beer and Wine License were granted to Ctrs. Jim Nassifeat the Victory Shop East Broad Street, Dunnm N. C. Beer License were granted to Mabel Janet Hamm at White Way Club on the roadway North of Dunn, N. C. Beer License were granted to J. R. Moore at W. R. Moore & Son, Dunn, N. C. NORTH CAROLINA PETITION TO REDEFL HARNETT COUNTY FROM TAX FORECLOSURE Pauline Tutor Marshburn, owner of Lot and Bldgs Duncan, N. C. as described in Book 242 page 401 purchased 1932 petitions the board of Commissioners to redeem said lands from Tax Foreclosure sale to Harnett County and shows: That petitioner was at tim. of the foreclosure a minor and is now a minor and married. That her father L. L. Tutor died about the year 1937. That for the years 19 and 1934 land was listed in the name of L. L. Tutor and not listed for yeat 1935 and for year 1935 and subsequent years was carried forward as L. L. Tutor or L. L. Tutor Estate. That Statement of Tax Collector shows amount due to redeem as #388.98 as of May 15, 1945. That said tax claimed is based upon the listing* by L. L. Tutor and no lict- ing and listing by carrying the listing by L. L. Tutor and carrying forward in name of Estate and shows tax on personal property ofL. L. Tutor, as above shown. Also that the statement shows tax for year of 1932 being tax for property before purchased in amount of $40.26. That the tax on personal property should be excluded and same amount toabout one fifth of the tax or approximately sum of $40.00. Showing actual tax due of possibly $30).00 if value be fair and list' g be considered regualr. WHEREFORE, petitioner asks to be allowed to_edeem at a fair and reasonable amoun considerdtng the listing and tax value and listing of persoanl property of L. L. L. Tutor et als Judgment A -838, has been purchased by county of Harnett in said Foreclosure action, and the original owner desires to. redeem said land from said taxes and said forclosure sale; and whereas said land was listed fort axes in nam of L. L. Tutor together with personal property of L. L. Tutor for annumber of years an carried forward for several years in name of L. L. Tutor Estate: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That said land be redeemed and discharged of the li n and said foreclosure and sale upon the payment to W. D. Harrington Tax Collector of Harnett County of the sum fo $250.00, pay,ent to be made on or before July 1, 1945, said payment to inclde and discharge taxes for year 1945; And further that upon said payment the da_d Harnett County by its proper officers convey said land back to the original owner Raul ne Tutor Marshburn, by proper deed. The tax collector was instructed to cause to be levied upon a personal property pf all deliquent tax payers, whether owners of Real Estate or not, in all instances where the aggregate amount of deliquent items does not exceed one hundred dollars. It was ordered that upon receipt by the County of $100.00; the lien of taxes of lot on E. Cumberland Street, Dunn, N. C. listed sc:me years to Davidson Chemical Com and being known as R. W. Underwood lot, and other years unlisted, by released to the taxpayer, the Valution having been fixed on the property at $650.00. This amount included taxes for year 1945 and all prior years.
