A petition sighed by the re4u'_red nimber of citizens and voters of the punn
School District, asking for an election to be held in thab district relative to
voting a special tax not to exceed fifteen cents on the one hundred valuation of
property, for the purpose of supplementing present funds now lewfully allotted to
the DunnSchool District, was presented to the Board of Commissioners the first
Monday in April duly endorsed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Harnett County Board
of Education.
At the regular meeting of the Board cf Commissioners held May 7, 1945, the
boundaries of the Dunn School District were stated in writing by the County Board of
Education. Thereupon, the Board of Commissioners ordered that the petition, to-
gether with a description of the boundaries of bath district, be returned to the
Harnett County Board of Education to be transmitted by that Board to the State Board
of Education, for its action in keeping with law.

The following is a description of the boundaries of the Dunn School District:
Beginning at the dohnston County line back of Bethsa#y Church; then with
church property to the Neighbor's Churcp road; then with said road to W. M. Pleasant's
line, with said line to the Nath McLamb line to the J. H. Barefoot line to the Fair
Ground road crossing sain road with his line to the P. B. Johnson Estate line with
said line to Bllck River; then crossing Black River with the Ray Neighbor's line to
John Sorrell&s line to the old Smithfield - Averasboro Road; then crossing said road
with the John Sorrell line South to the Carro Sorrell Bennett line to the J. L.
Hodges line to the road leading from Turlington's Cross Roads to Dunn; then down
said road to the W. H. Lucas line to Black River; then South with the meanderings
of Black River to the Dr. C. B. Codrington line; then West with his line the Bessie
Jackson line, the Jesse Tart line, the IIesse Lockamy line, the David Stephenson line,
the Carl Hamilton line, the Holt Hamilton line, the. Hugh Prince line to Turtle Branch,
with said brance and Bumper Creek to the Cape Fear River; then as said river meander's
to the Cumberland County line; then with the Cumberland, Sampson and Johnston County
lines to the beginning.

The Board appointed Ferd D. Jackson and Anus A. Cameron as a commitee to work
with the American Legion organiiati.n in making plans fob t!e erectian of a sutiable
Memorial Platue for the dead heroes of war *1 and world War *2.
The Board approved the application for beer and wine license to be granted to
J. A. Lackam r in South Erw_n, Erwin, N.C.
The Board approved the application for beer license to E. D. Raynor at "My Place"
Erwin, N.C. Dunn and Erwin Highway on the premises of Mrs. Mike Rose.
The Board appreved the application for beer and wine for Tom Newton at Two Way
Service Station on the Lillington and Fort BraggRoad.
The Board approved the application for beer and wine to Andrew J. Collins at
Cape Fear Service Staion 1 mile North of Li11_n_ton.
The Board approved and granted beer license to Floyd 0. Glover at River View
Service Station, Erwin, N. C.
The Board granted license to S. J. Watkins at Watkins Cafe Lillington, N.C.
The Board granted beer license tc J. Gid Johnson at Gid's Cash Store on Highway
between Coats and Angier.
Rev. R. W. Underwood hav'_ng paid to the County of Harnett the sum of 0133.55 in
discharge of all taxes, interest and penalties for the year 1944 andall prior. It is
ordered that the official tax receipts involved be delivered to his attorney C. G.
Dunn and the County Attorney is directed prepare proper deed to be executed by the
County to the taxpayer quit - claiming its interest in the two involved, they being in
Town of Dunn as described in the complaint.
