HomeMy WebLinkAbout11061944108 NOVEMBER 6,1944: The Board of Commissioners met ih regular session on Monday, November 6th, at 10:00-A M with all members'present. Also present were H.0.Strickland, County Attorney, and Inez Harrington, Clerk to Board. The report of Howard Godwin,,C.S.C. was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register Of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The report of w.D.Harrington,Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. L M Chaffin, appeared before the Beard and "requested'a raise -from 40C to 50$ per hour for the force in the Indexing Office; The Board granted the request. The Board authorized the Auditor to pay the election expenses on Thursday, November 9th. Be it resolved that the property applied at a tax foreclosure sale by the County of Harnett under judgment No. SD 2292 A'1288 for the sum of $200., and known as the D.A.C.McLean land consisting of fortyaeves on Upper Little River and lying in Anderson's Creek Township be sold to Lela Reardon for the sum of 'x'00. cash. The Chairman of the Board is-hereby authorized to execute deed and the Clerk to the Board will attest same. Be it resolved that 22 acres of land owned by Archie McMillan adjoining the lands of Arch Johnson and P.J.McMilland, located in Johnsonville 'Township, aid acouired by Harnett County at a tax foreclosure sale under judgment No. S.D. 213.0 A 978 for the sum of $200. be sold to 'L A.Johnson for $200. cash and the chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute deed to W.A.Johnson, and the Clerk will attest "same. Be it resolved" that the property acquired by-Harnett County and the Town of Dunn, at a tax foreclosure sale under judgment No. 1784 -A 855 formerly listed to Timothy Smith be sold to Mande Smith for the sum of $250. $25. cash and not leas "that $10. per month until-the-entire balance of $226.' and interest is paid. The first payment begins the 4th day of December 1944.- The Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute deed and the Clerk to the Board will attest same. NORTH CAROLINA HARNETT COUNTY On Motion duly made and carried, be it resolved by the Board of 'County Commissioners of Harnett County, 'North Carolina, that the 43.2-acres of lands of H.C.Stewart situate in Upper Little River Townsh:i.p,Harnett "County, adjoining lands of B.P. Ingram, Oolon Stewart,B.H. Yarborough and Nellie and Thelma Stewart lands and as particularly described in deeds to H.C.Stewart as recorded in Book 232 page 177. and Book 232 page 178 of Registry of Harnett County, be and-the same is hereby after listed for Harnett County Taxes for the past 5 years. :at the valuation of 3780. and for the year 1944 at the valuation of $835.00. And further be it-resolved, that said lands be azd they are hereby released and discharged of any and all Harnett County Taxes' for the year 1944 and all prior years, upon payment of the amount of $56.84, -the - amount determined t o be due and payable by the County Auditor -upon said valuation for the aforesaid years. And further be it resolved, that the County Tax Collector and the County Auditor, be and they are hereby authorized and directed to issue the proper receipt in full payment of any and all Harnett County Taxes against said lands for the years 1944 and :all prior years upon the payment of the aforesaid amount of $56 -.84. Approved J:Farl Ward, Auditor- Nov. 6,1944 109 The following road petition was approved and ordered forwarded to the State Highway & Public Works Commission. That road which begins at a point near Chellie Brown's home and runs to A.R. Wester connecting the Raven Rock Road and the Cool Springs Road. The Board released A.L.Oldham,Jr.Duke Township of Doll tax permantely on account of physical disability. The Board ordered that recording fees be raised to meet the increase in cost of material for Register of Deeds office and instructed the Register of Deeds to use her judgment in the amount of increase. The following road Eetition was approved and ordered forwarded to State Highway & Public works Commission. That road beginning at a point on the Johnsonville road near midway service station on the opposite side and running southeast to a point on the Lindsey Nursery road near a filling station owned by J.A. Senter passing by the home of D.J.Taylor and others approximately 3.3 miles in Barbecue Township. The Board recessed to reconveneat call of Chairman.
