March 1944
The Board of Commissioners of'Harnett County met in regular session, Monday,
March 6,1944 at 10:00 A M With 'J.B•Ennis Chmn., L.R.Byrd, A.A.Cameron,Ferd D.
Jackson present. Also present were H.C.Strickland and Inez Harrington,Clerk
to the Board.
The Board approved the Petition for road presented by Citizen: of U.L.R.
Twp., and approved and ordered forwarded to the State Highway and Public Works
commission:
Beginning at a point where Ned McLeod lives on the road running from
Seminole to Pisgah, and running eastwardly and norther ly by way of Mrs.Mag•- Sloan,
Mrs.O.T.Cox William McLeod, M.J.McNeill's Estate, H.Thomas Cyrus MCNei11,J hn
Harrington;Dock Cox, Burt Thomas' Estate, to a point near Carl,McNeill's store
on H.ghway No.421, at totai'.idistance of approximately 2 miles.
It is ordered that Charles J.Tart, of Averasboro Township be relieved of
Poll taxes for the year 1943 and 1944 on account of his disability.
The Board granted Beer license to Alease Monds or East Cumberland St.,Dunn
N.C. for sale of Baer or premises.
The Report of Howard Godwin,C.S.C. was approved and ordered filed.
The report of Inez Harrington was approved and ordered .2 filed.
H.C.Strickiand,Fered D.Jaekson and H.S.Freeman were ap;,ointed as a
committee to conver with the Wake County Board of Commissioners in regards to the
County line.

The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Monday March 13 with the
State Highway Commission to discuss road problems in Harnett County.
The following road petitions were presented and approved and ordered forwarded -
to the State Highway & Public Works Commission -
lst beginning at g point where Ned McLeod lives on the road running from
Seminole to Pisgah, and running eastwardly and northerly by way of Mrs.Mag Sloan,
Mrs.O.T. Cox, William McLeod,M.J. McNeill 's estate,H.Thomas,Cyrus MoNeill,John
Harrington,Dock Cox, Burt Thomas' Estate, -to a point near Carl McNeill's Store on
Highway N,.421, a total distance. of approximately 2 miles.
2nd F8r construction of one road commencing at Graham Tally's over the lines of
J.L.Tally and E.M.Currin and the lands of -R.S.Matthews,,to George Starling's house
on the road leading from #55 Highway by way of C.J.Mabryts to Buie's Creek for the
benefit of the schooltruck and all patrons patternizing C.C.Adams store. Said road
not being overseven tenths of a mile long. This road is all in cleared land except
about 5 yrds.

REVISED COUNTY MAINTENANCE MAPS
WHEREAS, the State Highway and Public W or lie Commission has filed with the
Board of Commissioners of the County of Harnett a maintenance map designated as 6th
District showing all public roads maintained directly or indirectly by the state;
and
WHEREAS, it appears that any changes as shown on this map are for the best
interest of the road system of the said county;
NOW, THEREFORE, the said map and all changes shown thereon are hereby approved
and ratified, and said map is hereby adopted as the official road map of said County.
