Jackson,L.R.Byrd, and R.L. Pate present. Also present was H.C.Strickland, County Attorney and Inez Harrington,Clerk to the Board. Be it resolve that that property (2 lots) formerly listed to Neill Tucker, Col. in Lillington ownship and acquired by Harnett at a tax foreclosure sale under judgment #SD#2214 A 1321 be sold to Banks Street, Col. for the sum of $50. on the following terms: $10. cash, September 26,1943, $10.00; October 26,1943 $10.00; November 26, 1943 $10.00; December 26,1943; $10.00; and the Chmn. of the Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized to execute deed to Banks Street, and the Clerk to the Board will attest same. Be it resolved that the thirty acr >:s A.C.Smith land in Johnsonville Township, and acquired by Harnett County at a tax foreclosure sale under judgment #A -1146 be sold to J.T.Smith,Cameron,N.C. #2 for the sum of $100. cash. The Chmn. to the Board is hereby authorized to execute deed to J.T.Smith and the Clerk to the Board"' will attest same. The report of Inez Harrington,Register of Deeds for the month of August was approved and ordered filed. The report of Howard Godwin,C.S.C. for the month of August was approved and ordered filed. It having been made to appear that P;Ir.Walter Byrd who served as Secretary - Treasurer and Attorney to the Lillington Township Road Commission and later in the same capacities to the Harnett County Road Commissioner, received or compensation for his services the sum of $300; and that he waives any further demand for this said services. It is ordered that the settlement heretofore made by Mr.Walter Byrd and his accounting as secretary - Treasurer and attorney to the Lillington Township and Harnett County Road Commission be and the same is hereby accepted and approved. The Auditor was authorized and instructed to transfer from the 1943 pre- payment a/c to the School fund the sum of $20800. for the purpose of paying bonds due Oct. 1st, and to take care of other n3cessary expenses. It is ordered that the lien of taxes for the years 1934 and through 1940 inclusive, on 40 acres of land listed in the name of Sandy McLean,Estate, colored Stewart's Creek Township be released because of double listing the same land having been listed in the name of Alex McLean Estate for the above named years. It is ordered that 1927 taxes in the amount of 80¢ on 2 lots listed to E.J. Stephens, Hector's Creek Township be released, the estate of E.J.Stephens, deceased, having been settled several years ago.
