You are hereby authorized, empowered and commanded -to collect the taxes set
forth in the tax boons filed in the office of - the "Harnett County Tax Supervisor
and in the receipts herewith delivered to you, and in the. amount and from the
taxpayers therein set forth, ( and also, all other taxpayers and taxes represented
by official:; tax receipts for years other than the current year)- and`°such taxes
are hereby declared to be a first lien on all real property of the respective tax-
payers in Harnett County and this order shall be a full and sufficient - authority
to direct, require and enable you to levy on and sell any real or personal proper -

Upon - motion -of Commissioner - Byrd,' seconded by Commissioner Lasater, the Board
ordered' that the County's interest in ten certain parcels of land situate in or
near the Town of Dunn, Averasboro Township, be sold to the purchasers and for -the
amounts'. -set forth below, and the Chairman was authorized to execute deeds proper - -''
ly attested by the Clerk conveying the County's interest in said lots to the re-
spective purchasers upon the payment of the purchase price. The lots so ordered
to be sold, the names of the respective. purchasers, and the respective amounts to
be paid to the County for its interest in each of said lots are as follows:
A lot-50.x 150 feet on Goodman Street acquired` under Tax Foreclosure Judg-
ment No:. A -1090 by deed recorded in Book 247, page 269, Harnett County Registry;
sold to -E. H. Melvin for $69.30.

Continuous Public Official Bond for Indefinite Term
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS,
That We Alfus Walker O'quinn of Lillington, North Carolina, as principal, and
The Aetna Casualty and Surety Company, a corporation of Hartford, Connecticut, as
Surety, are held and firmly bound unto State of North Carolina in the penal sum
of Two Thousand and no /100 ($2,000.00) Dollars, lawful money of the United
States of America, for the payment of which, well and truly to be made, said
principal binds himself, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, and
said surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly
by these presents, the liability of the surety, however, being limited to the penal
amount above named regardless of the number of years this bond remains in force or
the number of premiums paid.
SEALED and dated this 1st day of July 1953
WHEREAS the said principal has been appointed to the office of Rural Law
Enforcement Officer for an indefinite term beginning July 1, 1953, and is requir-
ed to furnish a bond for the faithful performance of the duties of the said office
or position.
NOW, THEREFORE THE CONDITION OF THIS OBLIGATION is such that if the above
bounded principal shall (except as hereinafter provided) faithfully perform the
duties of his said office or position during the time this bond remains in force,
and shall pay over to the persons authorized by law to receive the same all moneys
that may come into his hands during the said time without fraud or delay, and at
the expiration of said time, shall turn over to his successor all records and prop-
erty which have theretofore come into his hands, then this obligation to be null
and void; otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that the above named Surety shall not be liable hereunder
for any loss of any public funds resulting from the insolvency of any bank or
banks in which said funds are deposited; and if this provision shall be held void,
this entire bond shall be void.
AND PROVIDED FURTHER, that any party to this instrument may cancel the same
at any time, with or without cause, by notifying both of the others by registered
mail of an intention thereby to cancel, in which event such cancellation shall be
fully effective at the expiration of thirty (30) days from the mailing of such
notice. In the absence of such a notice, and if there shoud be no cancellation
by agreement between all of the parties hereto, the bond shall remain continuous-
ly in full force and effect, in the penal amount above named, as long as the prin-
cipal holds the said office or position.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That Duncan P. Ray, Jr., Lillington, North
Carolina, as principal, (hereinafter called Principal) and the Maryland Casualty
Company, a corporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in
the City of Baltimore, Maryland, as Surety, (hereinafter called the Surety) are
held and firmly bond unto the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, N. C.
(hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of Thirty -Five Thousand and no /100 - --
Dollars ($35,000.00) to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done,
the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, and
the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally,
firmly by these presents.
THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that Whereas, the said
Principal was appointed Harnett County Tax Collector for the term beginning on
the 1st day of July 1953, and ending on the 30th day of June 1954.
NOW,'. THEREFORE, if the said Principal shall, during the term of this bond, well
and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of
his election or appointment to saidoffice, except as hereinafter limited, and hon-
estly account for all moneys coming into his hands, according to law, then this
obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in full force
and virtue/
THIS BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express conditions,
which shall be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder:
IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that if
the Surety shall . so elect, this bond maybe cancelled by giving thirty (30) days'
notice in writing to thesaid Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at
the expiration of said thirty (30) days the said Surety remaining liable for all
or any act or acts covered by this bond which may have'been committed by the Prin -
cipal up, to thedate of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions and pro-
visions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its
release from all liability thereunder, refand the premium paid, less a pro rata
part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been in force.
AND IT IB FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO,
THAT THE Surety shall not be liable to the said Obligee for any loss dr losses
resulting by reason of the failure of the said Principal to collect any portion
or all taxes which he may be chargeable to collect by reason of his election or
appointment to saidoffice and that said Surety shall not be liable for failure of
the said principal to take any legal action to collect such taxes.
AND IT:IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES
HERETO, that the said Surety, shall not be liable to the said Obligee for any
losses resulting to the said Obligee by reason of any public moneys being now
on general or special deposit or hereafter placed on general or special deposit by
the said Principal, with any bank, depository, or depositories, or by reason of
the allowance to or acceptance. by said Principal of any interest thereon, any Law,
Decision, Statute or Ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.
