JULY 27th. 1953
The Board of County Commissioners met in a call session on Monday, July 27th.
at 10:30 A.M., with all members present.
Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Lasater, that the sum of
$400.00 be made available as a refundable expense fund for use in artificial
breeding of cattle in Harnett County under the direction of County Agent's office.
Motion carried.
Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner D. E. Lasater, that Naomi
Hawley's salary be increased from S2160. to $2760, as the Principal General Clerk
and that Leona Breeden's salary be increased from $1800.00 to $2400.00 as Senior
Statistics Clerk - - -- effective July 1st, 1953
Motion carried.
R E S O L U T I O N
BE IT RESOLVED By the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that there
shall be and there is hereby levied and assessed against all taxable property
within the County of Harnett, taxes at the respective rates as set forth below
for the use of the County, per $100 valuation of said property, for the fiscal
year 1953 -54:
General County Fund .20

County Accountant .01
County Agent .03
Veterans Service Officer .01

Upon motion of Commissioner Byrd seconded by Commissioner Lassiter, the follow-
ing Resolution was unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, the Harnett County Board of Commissioners has today adopted a Resolu-
tion appropriating the sum of $9,317.99 to defray the County's phare of the cost
of constructing and equipping a Health Center Building containing 2200 square feet;
And,
WHEREAS, the North Carolina Medical Care Commission has requested the Harnett
County Board of Commissioners to name some suitable individual as the County's
official spokesman for said project -and like wise to vest such official with the
authority tocconduct such c®rrespondence and sign on behalf of the County such
documents as may be necessary in connection therewith; And,
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners that Honorable L.A.
Tart, Chairman of said Board should be the individual named to such position;.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY
that Honorable L. A. Tart, Chairman of the Harnett CountyBoard of Commissioners be
and he is hereby named as the official spokesman for the proposed Harnett County
Health Center to be erected in Lillington, North Carolina, and the said L. A.
Tart is hereby vested with the authority to conduct such correspondence and to
sign such documents as may be required in connection with said project.
I, Inez Harrington, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, do
hereby certify that the foregoing in a true and exact copy of a Resolution adopt-
ed by the Harnett County Board of Commissioners at the meeting of said Board held
in Lillington, North Carolina, on July 27, -1953, and I do further certify that the
original of said Resolution has been recorded in Commissioners Minute Book No. 9
at page 246, office of the Harnett County Register of Deeds.

upoN MOTION OF COMMISSIONER BYRD SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER LASATER, the
following Resolution was unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS' the present. facilities in Lillington, North Carolina, used by the
Harnett County Health Department are inadequate to meet the needs of said Depart-
ment and to enable it -to render prompt and efficient service to Harnett County
citizens; And,
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Harnett County Board of Commissiones that
it is desirable and necessary to erect a new Harnett County Health Center in the
Town of Lillington; And,
WHEREAS, State and Federal Funds are available to defray 74.6 per cent of the
cost of constructing and equipping a health'center building containing 2200 square
feet, the total estimated cost of which will be $36,685, with the result that
the County's share of said cost will be $9•,317.99; And,
WHEREAS, Harnett County now has available sufficient unallocated funds to de-
fray its portion of the total estimated coast of such proposed health center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT
COUNTY that the sum of $9,317.99 be and the same is hereby allocated, appropriated
and set aside for the purpose of defraying the County's portion of the total es-
timated cost of constructing and equipping a health center building containing
2200 square feet in theTown of Lillington.
I, Inez Harrington, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, do
hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the Resolution duly
adopted.by the Harnett County Board of Commissioners at a meeting of said Board
held in Lillington, North Carolina, on July 27, 1953, and I do further certify
that the original of said Resolution has been recorded in Commissioners Minute
Book No, 9 at page 246, office of the Harnett County Register of Deeds.
