Home My WebLink About12151952191 December 15, 1952 The Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County met in a called session at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 15th, 1952, with the Chairman and Commissioners Byrd, Lassiter and Mangum present. The County Attorney was also present. Upon motion of Commissioner Mangum, seconded by Commissioner Lassiter, Commissioner Byrd, the purchasing agent, was authorized to purchase venetian blinds to be installed on the windows at the harnett County Boarding Home. Upon motion of Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commissioner Lassiter, road petition for hard surfacing the road running west from U. S. 15A fl Bethune's Stockyard by Thad Smith's residence, a distance of one and two - tenths miles was approved and ordered forwarded to the State Highway Commission. Upon motion of Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commissioner Lassiter, the County awarded the contract for installing a two -way radio system to Motorola, Inc. at the sum of $5,069.59. Upon motion of Commissioner Mangum, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, Phelp's Wood and Tin chop was awarded the contract to cover the Harnett County Jail with 20 lb. tin roof, including removal of the steeple, repairing or replacing where necessary all timbers, sheating, gutters and down- spouts, and painting roof, gutters and down- spouts, all for the total sum of $1125.
