NOVEMBER 3rd, 1952
- The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November
3rd. 1952 at 10:00 A M with all members present. Also present were the County
Attorney, Clerk to Board, and the County Auditor.
The report of Elizabeth F. Matthews, Acting Clerk, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds,was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of D. P. Ray, Jr., Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of B. H. Sellars, Electic'al Inspector, was approved and ordered
filed.
The following road petitions were ordered filed:
(1) to hard surface that certain road in Grove township which runs from -
Beginning Southwest of Coats and joining the brickmill road and about 1 mile
east of Highway 421, a distance of 12 miles. ''(Petition filed)
(2) To pull up and gravel that certain road in Stewartts Creek township_which
runs from Highway 7#217, Beaver Dam Bridge at George McNeillts house following the
old road to G. W. Cameron's house, then straight to Beaver Dam Road which runs
through Henry Elliott's farm a distance of 1-8/10 miles. (Petition filed)
Worth Lee Byrd move, seconded by R. L. Pate, that a telephone be installed
in the negro farm agents office. (Motion carried)
H. S. Holloway moveyl seconded by R. L. Pate, that the narnett County Home be
converted into a Harnett County Boarding House.
(Motion unanimously carried)
The Offices will be closed on Armistiee Day, November llth.
R. L. Pate moved, seconded by H. S. Holloway, that the Board of Commissioners
meet on November 12th. at 10:00 A M with Mrs. Annie Mae Pemberton, Supt. of the
aged with the State Board of Welfare to discuss and make plans for the setting
up of the Harnett County Boarding Home. (Motion carried)
H. S, Holloway,moved, seconded by R. L. Pate, that Commissioner Byrd and
Series !Johnson be named as a Committee to make an inventory of the supplies,
equipment etc. of the Harnett County Home. (Motion carried)
The offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th.
The Board recessed to reconvene at 10'00 A M November 12th.
