HomeMy WebLinkAbout10081952175 NORTH CAROLINA HARNETT COUNTY OCTOBER 8th, 1952 The Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County net in a call session on Wednesday, October bth, at 2 :30 P.M. with L. A. fart, H. S. Holloway, R. L. Pate and Worth Lee Byrd present. B. P. Ingram was absent on account of illness. Appearing before the Board were R. Eugene Brown, Director of Public Relations of State Board of weifare,and Miss "lima wiiliams, Superintendent of Harnett Welfare Department, who explained the rrarnett Welfare Budget. The Board approved the amount of V7,jb0.00, for additonal workers in the Welfare Department. H. S. Holloway moved, seconded by H. L. fate, tnat Claude Bryant be readmitted to the County Horne on account of nis physical handicap until he makes arrangements to get a job in which he can rinancially support himself. Motion carried. Tne following road petitions were approved and ordered forwarded to the State Hignway & Public Works Uommission (Petitions mailed to George Coble, Lexington, N. C. ) (1) That certain road in Duke +ownship to be completely opened and sur- faced wnicn runs from nignway No. 421 to the Old Lunn -Erwin road, a distance of one mile. (2) To grade and maintain that certain road in Duke Township whicn runs from Highway No. 421, at Bill's Place, 230 yards to the Old Dunn -Erwin road a distance of 230 yards. (3) To pull up and level that certain road in Luke township which runs from highway No. 421 to Dunn -trwin road, a distance of 321 yards. (4) 10 grade and maintain by the state that certain road in Black River Township wnicn runs from the Willow Springs road to Angier and Fishes Cross Roads and links them and known as the Page Hoad, a distance of jj10 miles. (5) In Upper Little niver township to take over and maintain as a part of the State System that road leading North at Edgar Smith's home toward the Spring Hill Church, a distance of 1 and 72/100 miles. (6) To sandclay tnat road in Grove Townsnip near W. W. Lucas farm a distance of 12 miles. (7) Lo pull up and make usable that road in black niver Township that runs from hear the home of W. L. 'oilier on Highway No. 55 which is 21 miles South of Angier to the Durham and southern Railroad and known as the Currin Community Hoad a distance of 510 feet. (b) To work and place upon the state System that certain road in Neill's Creek Township which begins at the end of the Dead End Road that stops at the residence of A. L. wood and runs with the Old neighborhood Hoad in a western direction a distance of 1 -1 /10 miles to Ei_-hway No. 421 at the residence of Walter Murchison. (9) to work up and gravel that road in Averasboro Township which runs from the Fair Ground Hoad to Paul Neighbors home at the cross road and known as the John G. Hodge lane a distance of 1 miles. The Board Adjourned.
