Also present were W. A. Johnson, County and Inez Harrington, Clerk to Board. R. L. Pate, that the following, resolution RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that there shall be and there is hereby levied and assessed against all taxable property within the County of Harnett, taxes at the respective rates as set forth below for the use of the County, per $ 100 valuation of said property, for the fiscal year 1952 -53: General County Fund Poor Fund Health Fund Bond Fund County- Accountant County Agent Veterans Service Officer Old Age Assistance Fund Aid to Dependent Children SCHOOLS: Current Expense Capital Outlay Debt Service TOTAL SPECIAL DISTRICT No.11 Averasboro TOWNSHIP ROAD REFUNDING BOND TAX RATES AS FOLLOWS: Fund Anderson Creek Averasboro Barbecue Black River Grove Johnsonville Lillington Neill's Creek Stewart's Creek Upper Little River Poll Tax $ 2.00 plus three times special rates. .15 .10 .08 .09 .01 .03 .01 .09: .07 .63 .19 .30 .18 .67 1.30 .15 .07 04 .05 .05 .20 .23 .10 .06 .15 APPROVED By: L. Tart Chairman 141 The Board of Commissioners for the County of Harnett, North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room in the Courthouse, in Lillington, North Carolina, the usual place of meeting, in adjourned regular session at 1:30 O'clock P. M., July 28, 1952. There were present: L. A. Tart, Chairman, and Commissioners H. 3. Holloway and R. L. Pate. Absent: Commissioners Worth L. byrd and B. P. That a special bond election is hereby called to be held on Saturday, September 6, 1952, between 6:30 A. M. and 6 :30 P. M., Eastern Standard Time, at which there shall be submitted to the qualified voters of riarnett County the following question: Shall an order finally passed on July 7, 1952 authorizeing not ex- ceeding $490,000 Courthouse Bonds of the County of harnett for the purpose of erecting a County Courthouse to replace the existing Courthouse and two existing county buildings, and the acquisition of the necessary equipment therefor, and a tax for said bonds, be approved? Section 2. That for said election the regular registration books for elec- tions in said County shall be used and such books shall be open for the registra- tion of voters, not theretofore registered, from 9 A.M., until sunset on each day, beginning Saturday, August 9, 1952, and closing Saturday, August 23, 1952, On each Saturday during such registration period said book' shall be open at the polling places. Saturday, August 30, 1952, shall be Challenge Day. Section 3. That the Clerk of the Board of Commissioners shall cause,a notice to be published in the Harnett County News at least thirty days before the election, and thereafter twice before the election at intervals of at least one week between - publications, reading substantially as follows: NOTICE OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION AND SUPPLEMENTAL REGISTRATION IN THE COUNTY OF HARNETT, NORTH CAROLINA A special bond election will be held throughout Harnett County between 6 :30 A. M. and 6:30 P. M., Eastern Standard Time, on Saturday,,September 6, 1952, at which there will be submitted to the qualified voters of said County the follow- ing question: Shall an order finally passed on July 7, 1952, authorizing not exceeding $490,000 Courthouse bonds of the County of °arnett for the purpose of erecting a County k`ourtliouse to replace the existing Courthouse and two existing county buildings, and the ac- quisition of the necessary equipment therefor, and a tax for said bonds, be approved? The question hereinabove set forth contains a statement of the purpose for which the bonds are authorized by the order referred to in such question. If said bonds are issued a tax will be levied for the payment of the principal and interest thereof on all taxable property in narnett County. That the precincts and polling places and the names of the registrars and judges which have been inserted in the foregoing notice are the precincts and polling places which have been fixed and the names of the reg- istrars and judges which have been appointed for each precinct by the County Board of Elections of Harnett County, and such precincts and polling places and suhh registrars and judges shall be the precincts and polling places, and the registrars and judges for the election. Section 5. That the form of the ballot to be used at said election shall be substantially as follows: YES NO Official Ballot Special bond Election County of narnett, North Carolina September 6, 1952 INSTRUCTIONS 1. To vote "Yes" make a cross (x) mark in the square to the right of the word "yes ". 2. To vote "No" make a cross (x) mark in the square to the right of the word "No". 3. If your tear or deface or wrongly mark this ballot, return it and get another.
