The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, May 5th,
1952, with L. A. Tart, Chairman, B. P. Ingram, H. S. Holloway, Worth Lee Byrd, and
R. L. Pate present, also present were the County Attorney and the County Auditor
The report of Elizabeth F. Matthews, Acting Clerk Superior Court, was approved
and ordered filed•. ;
The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of D. P. Ray, Jr., Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered
filed.
The report of J. L. Bishop and B. H. Sellers, .County Electrical Inspectors,
were approved and ordered filed.
The report of L. K. Boston, Negro Farm Agent, was approved and ordered filed.
The report of Ida P. Hinnant, Negro Home Agent, was approved and ordered filed.
The Board granted free pedlers license for a period Of-1-year to Jesmond C.
Duncan of Wake County, -Cary, N. C. on account of being ac.diSabled7veteram of World
War 1.
Continuation Certificate with Maryland Casualty Company with Eli Manning as
Principal in amount of 07_000.00, was approved and ordered filed with Clerk of
Superior Court.

subject to all its covenants and conditions is hereby continued in force until
noon on the 5th day of February, 1953.
IT IS EXPRESSLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED that the attached bond and all renewal or
continuation certificates attached thereto (including this one) are not cumulative,
and that the total - liability of the Maryland Casualty Company under the attached
bond and all such renewal or coninuation certificates shall not exceed the penalty
named in the attached bond to wit:

The Board of. Education appeared before the Board of Commissioners and presen
ed the School Budget for 1952 -53, which was placed on file for consideration.
Miss Wilma Williams, Supt. of Public Welfare,Lappeared before the Board and
presented the Budget for the Welfare Department for the year 1952 -53, which was
placed on file tor consideration.
Dr. W. B. Hunter appeared before the Board and presented the Budget for the
County Health Department, which was placed on file for consideration.
The Budget for the - Harnett County Library was presented by Mr. Profitt,
Chairman of Library Board.

NORTH CAROLINA
HARNETT COUNTY
WHEREAS, the present Harnett County Courthouse is inadequate to meet the
needs of the County in that it does not contain sufficient apace and is like-
wise in a bad state of repair; And,
WHEREAS, it is the opinion or the board of Commissioners that a new Court-
house should be erected for Harnett County and that the question of the financ-
ing of an erection of such Courthouse should be submitted to the voters of
Harnett County in order that they might express their wishes with respect there-
to; And,
E REAS, it is necessary to employ an architect to draft and prepare pre-
liminary plans for a proposed Courthouse building for Harnett County;
NGW, THEREFCRE, PE IT R:SCLVED BY TEL Board of County Uomnissioners of
Harnett County th::,t William M. Weber, A.I.A., be, and he is hereby employed as
architect to prepare plans for such a Courthouse, subject however, to the voters
of Harnett County approving the financing of the construction of such Courthouse
by the issuance of bonds or otherwise;
The foregoing resolution was intr.iduced by Commissioner Holloway and read
and upon motion of Commissioner Holloway, seconded by Commissioner Ingram,
the same was unanimously adopted.

branch that certain road' in Johnsonville Township which runs from extension of
Highway #27 and enters near Cypress Church on the Cypress and Cameron road, a dis_

3. To Black top surface that certain road in Hector's Creek Township, which runs
from the Kipling- Christian Light road to Buckhorn road and known as the "Old Olive
