JANUARY 7., 1952
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday January 7th, 1952
with L. A. Tart, - Chairman, B. P. Ingram, Worth Lee Byrd, and H. S. Holloway present,
-also present were th County Attorney, the Auditor and the -Clerk to the Board.
R. L. Pate was absent on account of illness..
The report of Robert B. Morgan, C. S. C. was approved and ordered filed.
• The report of Inez narrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered
filed. -
, The report of -D. P. Ray, Jr. Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed.. -
The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer, was approved and ordered.:

The following road Petition was approved and given to Walter Roger Cameron,
W. C..Rt. 1 2, who will present aame to State Highway Commission, In Johnsonville
Township, which runs from Mangum's.Store to Joe Hawley's Store a distance of 3 -7/10
miles- to be straightenednand widened and sand clay. (Petition given Walter Rogers)
The Board appointed Worth Lee Byrd as the representative from Board of 'Commission-
ers to the Harnett County Welfare Board.
The Board appointed B. P. Ingram as Vice OhaP msusn.of Harnett County Board of
?ommissioners.
Be it resolved that the 2 lots in Dunn, nversboro Township, known as lots 185 a
and #86 of B. O. Toensend's property as shown on Map Book ,f 1 page -40, Harnett
County Registry of deeds office and acquited by Harnett County under tax foreclosure
sale Judg .ff 951 be sold to N. M. Grace and wife, Bessie-for :the sum of $58.45 and
the Clairman is hereby authorized to execute Deed and the Clerk to Board will att
est same.
WHEREAS, Honorable Charles Ross was called to receite his eternal rewatd on
December 11, 1951, And;
WHEREAS, Mr. Ross was one of the outstanding citizens of Harnett County and
during his life served his County and State, both as a public official and. other-
wise in such a manner as to reflect high honory°himself and'his'County; And;.
WHEREAS, the, people of•Harnett County and North tarolina have suffered to .a
great and distinct loss in his passing, and this Board desires to express to his
family its sympathy and further desires to publicly express and record its sen-
timents of respect for this outstanding citizen;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the Harnett County Board of Commissioners in
Special Session duly assembled on Dec. 31, 1951, that said Board do, and it ,does
hereby, express to the family of Honorable Charles Ross, its deepest sympathy -
over their loss;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Board do, and it does hereby, record and
publicly express its sentiments of respect for Mr. Ross;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT copies of this Resolution be furnished to his
family and to the press of this County.

The following road petition was approved and given to Mr. Owen Odum to present
to the State Highway Commission to hard surface or make an all weather road of
that road in Barbecue Township, which negins at McCormick Filling Station on the
Johnsonville iload to the Lindley Nursery road a distance of 32 miles (Petition
given to Mr. Odum)
H. S. Holloway moved,- seconded by, B. P. Ingram that certain lots in the
town of Dunn and Harnett County which have been acquired by Harnett County and
the Town of Dunn at tax foreclosure sales, be advertised and sold at public
auction, the cost and proceeds to be shared in Harnett County and Town of
Dunn by their respective interest in the lots, Motion Carried.
. . Holloway moved seconded by B. P. Ingram, that Harnett County allow an;
Count dot to exceed- $459.00. to U S.. Department of Agriculture for the;destruc-
ion of White Fringe Bettis in eertain•sections of Harnett County. Motion,:Cirried.
